The Secret Behind Clever Kids – Can 2 Wrongs Make a Right?

I would like to know is there any truth in that saying "two wrongs make a right."
I have two sons, Brendan 36 the father of my only granddaughter Graciemae (2 years) and Jake 20. I know, "big gap." both of whom excelled at school. Brendan at the age of five was a gifted child said his tutors, a genius in maths. It was not unusual to have his friends put him to the test armed with calculators. Brendan could work out 4 or 5 sums in his head at the same time and give solutions within minutes. Not the average sum he would be given - but challenging numerals which reached millions. He conquered every time. The amazing thing was Brendan could never work out the answers on paper.
As for Jake the story is about the same, only, he could use pen and paper for calculating. My display cabinet boasts plaque after plaque for mathematician of the year awarded to Jake in primary school. I recall the time I was called into his school to sign papers – having to sign a consent form allowing a specially trained teacher prep Jakes teacher on how matters should be conducted to teach a child so young with outstanding advanced abilities. I still treasure the hand written letter from his school headmistress saying "it is a sad day when a five year old can count faster than you." I ask again "can two wrongs possibly make a right." However, regardless of the knowledge up top, Brendan digs holes for a living and Jake is out of work. Jake left school with 12 GCSES and went onto college passing every course taken in computers. His qualifications neatly typed out on enhanced card lie stagnate in the drawer. I say you cannot judge a man by a piece of paper – and I stand by this.
Coming back to Graciemae (granddaughter) who I care for 10 hours a day - has me reliving the past over again. I have been around many toddlers all my life due to having a big family and I have yet to see a child of this age come anywhere in comparison to her capabilities. I am not saying there are no other special babies out there ahead of their time; but I am convinced she is exceptionally intelligent. I took the liberty of visiting the Mensa site to ease my curiosity and this is what I found
Two-year-old 'Matilda' becomes youngest ever girl in Mensa
Georgia Brown has an official genius-rated IQ - Intelligence Quotient - of 152
This puts her in the same intellectual league, proportionate to her age, as physicist Stephen Hawking.
According to an expert in gifted children, Georgia is the brightest two-year-old she has ever met.
The tasks involved for Georgia included
1 Can sing a rainbow perfectly
2 Count to 10
3 Dance ballet
4 Use words like arrogant in conversation
5 Distinguish between pink and purple
6 swim
7 Draw an almost perfect circle
8 Distinguish between a circle and square
9 Explain difficult words.
This is wonderful for a two year old I thought until Graciemae came on the scene.
The above named feats that Georgia sat were accomplished by Graciemae long before she turned two. What I found uncanny at times was the conversations we had with no unbroken sentences. It was quite eerie.
It would actually save time to itemize the things Gracie cannot do (drive a car) than what she can. Mind you in having said that, she will sit on a chair and in pretence turn the ignition on; check the mirror, clutch and brake, and all in appropriate sequence. The nonexistent car doors have to be opened and closed and heaven forbid should you forget to shut yours.
I Gracie can tell you "all" home addresses and phone numbers and emergency services 999.
2 The alphabets a doddle. Counting goes on and on. Colors she has known since I can remember.
3 She can operate every gadget in the different homes she visits i.e. video television DVD player, music center etc
4 In Spain she asks for Euros
5 She loves to read out letters and numbers on car registration plates.
6 She can tell you nearly word for word of every film watched. She knows her animals and sounds - and I do not mean cat and dog. She knows all fruits and vegetables. Gracie demonstrates the healthy benefits by flexing her muscles and saying it's for energy. She then plays doctors if we don't eat our veg. She gives the tablets, spoons the medicine along with checking reflexes. I find myself most days wrapped in toilet roll (bandages.)
7 Says her prayers and ends with Goodnight Godless, lovely to hear from one so innocent. Blesses herself and crosses her heart and hopes to die when getting you to believe in her.
8 Knows how to con and get out of a confrontation with a type of bribe attitude.
9 Can act, dance, mimic, sing and tell jokes all the way through.
10 My favorite saying is "well done nanny" after I have completed the relay course round the garden. The garden I hasten to add is 50ft by 60ft.
Actually – positive – nuisance – particular – gorgeous and rehabilitation, yes you heard right, are just some of the words in her "sentences."
Gracie will tell you Steven Gerard plays for Liverpool. Can tell you my favorite TV show and who my favorite singer is (Dean Martin don't you just love him.) I could go on and on. One worry I have concerning Gracie is her knowledge of computers. I fear I will lose the battle of ever writing again in case she commandeers mine. Gracie brings up Google and alerts me to my emails. She loves to get Worf and Quark up in the images section from star trek by typing in the names herself. She recites every letter and number on the keyboard without any assistance.
I have thought long and hard about these 3 precious people in my life and to how their upbringing could result to this. I realized I have been around them 24/7. I now ask could this "wrong" be doing something "right."
