Why have I got a vaginal rash is a common query. A vaginal rash is an ailment that women (men) at some time may have had, or will experience. Women tend to treat a rash regardless of not knowing the cause. This is not healthy and can be damaging. A rash forming in and around the vagina is not normally seen as a problem that requires medical attention. Nonetheless the discomfort from the condition allows it to worsen if the patient scratches the infected area, or heaven forbid use the wrong treatment. More women are coming out of their shell unafraid to visit their GP with their vaginal concerns. This is good news because doctors can detect vaginal diseases in time to save lives.
- Yeast infections
- Herpes
- Genital warts
- Trichomoniasis
The vaginal rash is more connected to yeast infections when fungus Candida is allowed to reproduce around the vagina. Tight clothing cannot be ruled out as a cause. Taut garmenting smothers the vagina therefore causing unhealthy damage. When you sweat, instead of the sweat being absorbed leaving the genital area cool and dry, it creates a moist environment for yeast fungi to grow.
Vaginal rash can occur round the time of menstruation if tampons or sanitary pads are not removed in the safe hygienic period. Cleaning done the wrong way after bowel movement - can cause vaginal issues. The acidic effect of urine can give reason for irritation. Think about it, why babies get nappy rash. An over wet nappy is usually the reason. Thoroughly dry the vagina and pubic hair after using the loo. Vaginal rash is also believed to derive from sexually transmitted diseases i.e. genital warts or herpes. Some women swear by soaking in a warm bath laced with salt and vinegar for soothing.
Under the arms and in between the toes are other body parts where yeast infection locates. Yeast fungus namely Candida is not rare and found on the mouth, fingers, skin and throat.
Candida albicans has been implicated in causing vaginitis.
Signs which show the yeast infection
- vaginal burning
- burning feel when peeing
- discomfort during or after sexual intercourse
- vaginal odor (not nasty)
- irritation
- vulva burning and itchiness
- itchy vagina
- weeing pain
- red rawness and swelling
Medication bought from the chemist should be used with caution. The genital area is tender and the skin sensitive, so un-agreeable treatments can cause serious health issues. Home treatments include nonprescription vaginal creams or suppositories. A single dose of fluconazole (Diflucan) tablet is effective for vaginal yeast infections. Fluconazole requires a prescription.
Genital herpes is a viral infection caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV). It is sexually transmitted showing symptoms of skin blisters and sores, sometimes no visible symptoms. Unfortunately conditions with no show of symptoms cause serious setbacks for the patient UN-be known to them there is a disease progressing. HSV remains in the body for life even after only first time infection. Specific treatments reduce the number and severity of herpes outbreaks, but scarily cannot cure it completely.
Genital warts are an STD which affects male and females. They are caused by various types of human papillomavirus. HPV can affect the cervix, vagina, vulva, and anus. They can distort abnormal Pap test results. In contrast the male penis is affected, the scrotum and anus. Genital warts can disappear without the need of treatment but it can also grow and further spread.
To prevent vaginal nasties is to maintain a heath pact with the vagina. The vagina requires as much attention to hygiene as do other parts of the body.
1 Cut down sugar consumption and replace with yogurt. Vaginal bacteria are a particular type that is only contained in a couple of foods. Yogurt contains good bacteria called acidophilus. Sugar promotes the type of bacteria that the yogurt bacteria attempt to kill.
2 Infections mainly rise from sweat or oils build up. Wash regularly. Do not douche unless under doctors orders. Douching is too severe, although taking bad bacteria it also takes serious amounts of good bacteria. Douching can cause inflammation (vaginitis). Use a flannel with a mild unscented soap to wash inside.
3 Condoms help keep the vagina clean.
4 Wearing cotton underwear permits breathing space allowing the skin around the vagina to stay fresh.
5 Leaving tampons for longer than six hours is not only unhealthy and smelly, it is very dangerous. It can cause toxic shock syndrome which is a serious but uncommon bacterial infection. Although it was directed towards the use of tampons it is supposedly associated with the contraceptive sponge and diaphragm birth control method. Toxic shock syndrome symptoms include rapid high fever, faintness, and loose diarrhea, headache, and muscle pain.
6 Soap is not necessary it can encourage vaginal dryness. Warm water is ideal.
Aside from vaginal issues the whole personal hygiene entity is a beneficial aspect you should endorse on the body to keep killer infections away.

Pleaseee help mee.Hi TT it sounds pretty much like infection or an allergic reaction with the way you describe the discomfort and discharge, however you need to be sure. This has gone on to long. Has your mom not mentioned seeing a doctor to put a stop to this. TT don't be scared because all vaginal issues are treatable. I suggest you get to your GP so he/she can give an accurate diagnosis, and if it is an infection you can at the same time get antibiotic cream to get rid of it
Keep well

Hi,
I have just started experiencing some discomfort around the entrance to my vagina - I have my period and am using sanitory pads. I have had something similar when I used extra absorbant panty liners. I'm assuming it's something to do with the pads, because I am not sexually active and it doesn't feel like a yeast infection. I will stop using the pads for now, but is there any cream I should use? Or maybe take an anti-inflammatory? I have been coming off a benzodiazepine, so am having withdrawal symptoms from that, maybe my body is too run down right now. Is there any cream that you would recommend I try for now?
Hi, notice a kind of rash around my vagina (white but its not hurting) have noticed that it is spreading...what could this b
I have a rash on my bottom that is on the anus area. It extends the up and down the length of that area and there are these brownish stains that look like dirt. I tried cleaning it yesterday and it irrated the skin badly. So i put some tripple antibitoic cream (its fairly oily) to prevent any infection and it seemed to help remove some of the "stain" I also iced the area all of last night and rash is still there but nowhere near as sensetive or inflamed. I do horseback riding as a hobby and yesterday was one of the hotter ones. Could this be a heat rash?
I also forgot to mention that I was on my period and had a pad on yesterday while riding. The pad is unsencted and is a brand ive alawys used. The rash is only irratited if i sit just the right way or it comes into contact with something like say toliet paper. I think ive had this before and it more or less resovled itself. However I just wanted to be sure.
