How do you shave nipple hair, quite simply answered, with great care and a steady hand? How "scary" is "hairy" especially if the nipples are affected by it. Nipple hair is not uncommon; in fact it is well recognized in both men and women. Nevertheless we connect nipple hair more to man because they already have hairy legs, chests, beards and moustaches. Mind you so have some women. Ladies more so than men, find nipple hair a problem. Removing nipple hair is so different from that of shaving legs or having an eyebrow wax.

Hairs round the nipple are not a major concern unless there is excess hairiness on other body parts and if periods are irregular (menstruation.) These symptoms could indicate polycystic ovary syndrome, (PCOS.) a condition which shows an increase in facial and body hair (hirsutism) usually below the chin, upper lip, forearms, legs and abdomen. Polycystic ovary syndrome means a multitude of cysts. It is an intricate health issue that affects the ovaries.

It is not imperative to remove nipple hair from around the areola. If you wish to have hair free breasts or chest then know the safe way to do this. Snipping loose stragglers with scissors is a more ideal option because infection can set in if a flesh wound occurs from shaving.

Although a painful way of removing nipple hair is by plucking, it is still a popular choice for removal. Remove coarse nipple hair by grabbing one strand at a time with the tweezers - pulling it taut and then cutting as near to the flesh as possible with nail scissors. For safety sake locate plaster tape over the nipple in case an accidental slip draws blood or cuts something off that it shouldn`t.

If after plucking, and ingrown hairs surface, this is a typical sign to say plucking is not done right. Breaking the hair at the shaft is not enough; it has to be extracted from the root. Pluck as you would your eyebrows, pull the skin tight and yank.

Although it is theoretically possible to have electrolysis it is not always effective. Electrolysis is a permanent means of hair removal that has endured the test of time and proven its worth in attaining smooth hair-free skin permanently.

Electrolysis cannot be used inside the nose and ears. It is a convenient method of getting rid of unwanted nipple hair. Sensitive skin will have you feel pain. Ask the electrologist to use a topical anesthetic on the located area before electrolysis.

Aside from the cost being painful on the pocket - it is also a painful experience due to a fine needle or probe inserted into each hair follicle to wipe it out. Pain threshold differs for each person. Some sense a mild heat sensation, and some a plucking or tweezing-like pain.

If you haven`t much time on your hands then this method is not for you. Electrolysis can take a couple of years to complete - depending on area size to be treated.

Timing for removing hair varies due to factors e.g. Size of area, hair thickness, current stage of growth cycle of the hair, previous hair-removal methods and the responsiveness of your skin to treatment. Fifteen to sixty minutes is usually the time it takes for one session. Speedy results of seeing visibility of non visible hairs will take a long time.

Hair removal by electrolysis can cause redness, swelling, dryness, blisters and scabbing, depending on skin sensitivity, class of equipment - strength of current used. This can be expected from this type skin therapy? Not a common issue but nonetheless permanent scarring or pitting of the skin can happen. Some patients experience skin lightening or darkening.

If you suffer from itchy nipples and they appear scaly and the skin cracked, it could be eczema. Eczema on the nipples begins mostly in adolescence and affects both nipples. Steroid cream is the right source of treatment for healing. Have your GP determine the condition so scabies which show the same in appearance can be ruled out.

Very rarely, eczema of a nipple can signal a cancerous growth beneath. Should you see unusual shaping, coloring or discharge then seek medical attention.

Shaving can cause spots, encourage in-growing hairs and result in nicks and cuts. Depilatory creams that dissolves hairs can burn the skin if it is not agreeable to the ingredients. Waxing along with plucking is painful.

Solution that's free, safe and painless is the "strip and scissor snip."
