Puffy eyes, swollen eyes and eye puffiness are just different names referring to the same thing. Whatever name you prefer does not change the fact that they are all an eyesore end of (excuse the pun.) Aside from skin and weight issues, puffy eyes are a regular problem which causes more women to fret and sadly, look to cosmetic surgery for help?

Normally it occurs in both eyes; nevertheless it can start in one eye and spread to the other. It can also affect one eye more than the other. Towels or tissues used for this purpose should be boiled washed or discarded after coming in contact with the infected eyes. Conjunctivitis is contagious and can speedily spread.
Broad spectrum antibiotic drops or ointment (chloramphenicol or fusidic acid) is the more recognized prescriptive medication for treating Bacterial conjunctivitis. Because the eyes are sensitive and of a delicate nature - when nursing them keep this in mind and use soft materials along with gentle touching, this will prevent further problems rising. Clean infected eyes with cotton wool soaked in cooled boiled water to remove debris and stickiness. Study states while 64 per cent of cases clear on their own in a matter of days, antibiotic eye medication does lead to increased cure rates and earlier remission.
If you see no change in your condition despite treatment then it is of the utmost importance to let your doctor know that you are not healing. If your symptoms worsen or if the vision deteriorates then take a trip back to your GP to examine the infected eyes so he or she may up dosage or change treatment or do further tests.
Things you can do to help avoid conjunctivitis or spreading it?
Thoroughly clean hands and face. Do not share face flannels or towels, keep one solely for the patient only. Avoid rubbing infected eyes. Crusted discharge should be removed by bathing the eyes with lukewarm salt water which helps reduce the symptoms. Use soft paper tissues/hankies to gently dab dry the eyes and then dispose. This stops contamination. Discard antibiotic eye drops after treatment course has ended.

- Rest your eyes whenever possible and avoid straining them
