Ways to tell if you`re pregnant - How I can tell if I am pregnant and what should I do if I find out that I am. This is a disconcerting question and has one of two reasons why it is asked. When a woman is told she is pregnant she either seeks help for all the good reasons, or in contrast, and sadly, we have women whose cry for help is in no relation to good. Their reasons could be they `re too young to have a baby, or they have a health matter that can incur complications further into the pregnancy preventing a full term delivery. Other motives could be due to inconvenience. If "no" acceptable excuse is given then convenience ups the numbers in abortions.
Too many babies are left abandoned on church doorsteps and under park benches because young girls think they have no one to turn to or that they are confused over where to get help. There is plenty of help for the underage young mom to be. If you know you`re pregnant and scared then speak to mom, your partner or doctor, whoever out of the three that you feel you can talk to at this time. I personally go for the first option because who better than mom to help in your hour of need.
First lets clarify you`re definitely pregnant. Ways to tell if you`re pregnant is simple if using a home pregnancy test kit, if you haven`t done a test and noticed changes in body behaviours and you believe them to be pregnancy symptoms, then you must be sure.
Ways to tell if you`re pregnant symptoms
If you think you`re already pregnant, it can be extremely frustrating waiting to find out, nevertheless not a time for hasty decisions or actions. Are you aware that some women can experience "early" pregnancy symptoms in the week before their period? Implantation normally happens within 8-10 days of ovulation. At this time, the woman`s body reacts to Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG,) the pregnancy hormone. It is this hormone that pregnancy tests find in a positive test. And, it is the speedy rising levels of HCG which cause early pregnancy symptoms.
During pregnancy a woman will see her body change in more ways than one while the baby develops inside the womb. What you need to bear in mind is that not all women carry their babies the same and because of this different aspects in pregnancy will not exactly be the same as the next pregnant woman`s. As time progresses these changes tend to disappear during pregnancy or soon after you give birth.
Symptoms of pregnancy and ways of telling your pregnant is mostly determined by the pointers below.
- A missed period is typical symptom of pregnancy
- Sore breasts - Breasts normally start to change in the first trimester (weeks one to 12 of your pregnancy) as the body begins to make tissue for producing and storing breast milk.
- Tiredness - In early pregnancy and because of major body change traits taking place it upsets energy levels. While the baby grows you start to feel the effects i.e. bigger and heavier, resulting in the feeling of "having no life in your body" when in a funny way you have (baby.) If you feel extremely tired, this could indicate anemia - see your midwife or GP.
- Having to wee often is another sign of pregnancy - Pregnancy hormones can encourage frequent urination spells. The feeling to wee becomes more prominent as the growing baby presses on the bladder. When you`re pregnant you have an increased risk of developing a urinary tract infection. You should not panic at this stage because so do other issues cause UTIs. Nevertheless it is a good to understand factors as such. Why we say more at risk is because pregnancy hormones and your growing womb can slow down the urine passing out of your body. Scientific study says cranberry juice may help to stop a urinary tract infection. If you experience symptoms of a urinary tract infection (pain or burning when you urinate) during pregnancy, you will need early treatment.
- Morning sickness One of the common of all symptoms and you want to think yourself lucky if you are not affected by the early morning balking and throw ups. Some women suffer sickness throughout the day and sometimes at night. This usually eases off after about 14 weeks. Women go to great lengths to avoid the sudden dash to the loo. To avoid this eat small meals regularly so that you don't get hungry. As we all differ you could try like other women, eating ginger biscuits or drinking ginger tea. Both are known for relieving their symptoms. Note how I said "their" as it may work for you, but may not.
- Constipation - Pregnancy hormones have a way of relaxing body muscles, so the bowels don't work as well. Your digestive system absorbs more water from the food and this makes the faeces harder making it difficult to pass and cause discomfort and pain. See your GP if you are constipated. Drink plenty of fluids and eat plenty of fresh fruit, vegetables and high-fibre foods such as cereals, this will help loosen the bowels.
- Weight gain - The exact amount of weight you put on will differ from the next woman. Usually a pregnant woman will show excess weight gain of around 10 to 12.5kg (22 to 28lbs.)
The weight you gain during pregnancy is made up of:
- A growing baby, placenta and amniotic fluid
- Development of the womb and breasts
- Increased blood circulation
- Water retention and fat stores
Heartburn I myself found this the most problematic and disturbing of all symptoms when I was expecting. Pregnancy hormones relax the end of your food pipe (oesophagus) which causes acid from the stomach to pass back up into your oesophagus, causing heartburn. Try eating smaller meals more frequently.
Swelling of the ankles, feet and hands (oedema.) This results from the body retaining more fluid and carrying more blood when you are pregnant. It can turn serious where you are carefully monitored to make sure you`re not developing pre-eclampsia. Bleeding gums - Hair changes and Skin differences can happen also.
You should attend all antenatal appointments, with the midwife, GP or obstetrician. Antenatal may include:
- blood pressure monitoring
- giving a urine sample
- blood tests

More commentsi am having unprotected sex with my boyfriend.
and i pee alot this days, i am now wondering if i am pregnant.
and i also i gain weight (not sure if its because i eat a lot or i am pregnant)
but i am still waiting for my period for this month of december to come...Hi Mira I would wait to see if your period comes before making assumptions. If you are having unprotected sex then if not now then its only a matter of time when you'll likely fall pregnant.
Keep well

Hi, Kacy.
I take birth control regularly. Me and my boyfriend are sexually active also. About two weeks ago I was diagnosed with a UTI. While I was taking this medication for the UTI, I read that some medications for UTIs can cause ineffectivness in the birth control. Before reading the article, me and my boyfriend had sex (he always pulls out though). That was about two weeks ago. Could I be pregnant? What is the likelyhood of a pregnancy?
Well me and my boyfriend had sex and to be honest ii get heart burns. Back pain. Always gott to go pee and these headaches n my boobs hurt at times? Is that possible i can be pregnant
I'm 17 years old. About three weeks ago my boyfriend fingered me and ate me out. His penis was out and he rubbed it against my vagina but I had clothes on. I know I can't be pregnant? But my period is two days late. And I'm experiencing my menstrual pains. Like stomach cramps and back ache. But no period? -___- can being fingered maybe delay my period because of hormones? And Friday I was really stressed out because my boyfriend got put in jail. Is that Also another reason it didn't come on Saturday? My stomach feels weird. But maybe I'm just paranoid. My stomach feels weird too.

I had sex for the first time on oct 2, which i believe caused my period to come a few days early. the day my period stopped, oct 6, which is early than my normal period ending times. was it my period or does sex make you bleed longer than a day?
my period is 4 days late today. i've been highly stressed out lately and ive been eating more, i'm always tired, peeing a lot, crying a lot because of stress although possibly mood swings, i have been having cramps but they go away quickly and my period still hasnt come, and a LOT of back pain. i havent felt that sick either. Is it because of stress or am i pregnant?
I am 15 years old, and me and my boyfriend have unprotected sex because my boyfriend is too scared to buy condoms from the store nearby. We have sex almost every day, and I'm worried I could get pregnant. I don't have really any symptoms, but I do notice that some people just don't. I get some cravings for wierd things like pickles and chocolate sauce, and cheese sauce like all heck. My stomach sometimes feels weird, and I get headaches, sometimes backaches, but not often like others, I don't have any breast soreness, and my last period was very light, I know of people who still get a slight period, but is way lighter then thier last one. Someone please tell me of what to do?
i've been having unprotected sex everyday this month except for the past saturday and i was wondering if i could be pregnant. i get gassy and i've been feeling a lil sick lately and i've been getting mad for anything and i've also gained weight. my period hasnt came down yet, it should be coming down in about a week or two so what do i do????
