If my urine appears cloudy what should I do, well the first thing is not to panic. Passing cloudy urine can happen because of many things. First we need to look towards the reasons for why it may have happened and hopefully single out the one actual cause. What is deemed normal urine? Urine is never one particular color it comes varied; it can show clear, dark yellow, red, or orange depending on a few issues. If you`re wee is clear it is referred to as dilute urine and the type in which we associate with a well hydrated person in which the kidney releases the excess fluid and solute/waste in a low concentration.

Urine is a strong element used for helping medics to make their diagnoses of specific conditions. It is also the primary factor used for determining pregnancy.

If you`re pee is deep yellow then this typifies a dehydrated person in which the kidney has less volume of fluid to excrete its waste and thus the fluid component compared to the waste component is less and the urine is more concentrated. Yellow urine is usually the result of the excretion of breakdown products of bile. Smelly urine can mean bacteria are present in the urinary tract breaking down the urine before it passes through the body. This can also be a sign of infection and, other symptoms may include, pain, stinging and burning when urinating. Vaginal infections are common and commonly treated on a daily basis, so if you think this is the cause of your problem then talk to your GP.

Is there any particular color of urine which is more serious than others? This would all depend on the reason for why the change. If you`re not peeing cloudy urine but a urine that is red then this typifies bleeding or hematuria. On hearing this don`t get yourself into a frenzy just make an appointment with your doctor so they can clarify why your urine is red. Blood contained in the urine will have it show red like it would with the rare disease called porphyria.

Porphyria

Porphyria is a fairly regular condition. There are seven sorts of Porphyria. Most types are hereditary but some may be acquired. All living things including even the healthiest person produce prophyrins. The body converts 2 simple substances, (ALA) and (PBG) recognized as porphyrin precursors, into more complex substances called porphyrins. These then convert from one sort of porphyrin to the next, in a sort of chain reaction, or trail, and with the aid of iron form Haem. Heam is a red organic compound found in haemoglobin, the coloring matter of the red corpuscles of the blood. A particular protein called enzyme completes each step on the pathway to make Haem. In each type of porphyria, a specific enzyme is deficient, therefore the reason for prophyrins massing.

Urine has no smell; however a debatable topic when those pee trickles is not washed away thoroughly. What the nose detects is the nitrogen waste a product of ammonia which has a characteristic smell not normally unpleasant. In relation to smelly urine we look towards urinary tract infections and vaginal infections - depending on the infecting organism. If you have a urinary tract infection/cystitis and leave it untreated then you can pass cloudy urine. Deep orange urine can be the result of specific medicines. Urine created by the kidneys and has not yet left the body is sterile and is odorless, or has a weak smell. As soon as urine is exposed to air, it is broken down by bacteria that contaminate it from the outer part of the urinary tract and your skin. Salts in the urine, especially urea, are then changed to chemicals such as ammonia, which have a strong smell.

If you drink a lot of water urine will pass as yellow or more a pale lemon near to colorless because of this. Various conditions can have you see urine differences when using the toilet. For instance: a jaundiced person, with excessive bile pigment in their blood, will see their urine change to dark yellow, orange or brown because it contains more of these pigments.

Foods you eat like beetroot can discolor normal urine. Infection doesn't usually affect the color of urine but if you stream cloudy urine then this may be a sign of infection, although it can be caused by kidney stones too.

Kidney Stones

The kidneys "clean" the blood. They filter out water and waste products, making urine. Kidney stones are tiny, solid heaps that form when salts or minerals usually found in urine become solid crystals inside the kidney. In most cases, the crystals are too small for the eye to see, and pass harmlessly out of your body. Nevertheless, they can mass inside your kidney and form much larger stones.

If a stone becomes over large it may move out of the kidney and advance through the ureters - the tubes that carry urine from the kidney to your bladder. Should the stone get lodged in the ureters it can cause an infection which can lead to permanent kidney damage.

What is a Urinary tract infection?

Urinary tract infection is defined as the presence of increasing micro-organisms in the tract through which urine flows from the kidneys through the bladder. This condition is known more to infect women. UTI is rare in men under the age of 60.

The infection ranges from cystitis (mild inflammation limited to the bladder) to the more serious – infecting the kidney (pyelonephritis.)

It's possible to have a urinary tract infection without symptoms but if they are present they can include

If you are worried then you had best pop along to the doctor`s surgery for your GP to put your mind at rest. He/she will be able to clarify why you are passing cloudy urine, however should the urine be strong-smelling and dark it could simply be that you're not drinking enough fluid and your urine is concentrated. You are not to be embarrassed over this issue or believe you are abnormal because your pee is misty. Everyone of us on this planet has to wee wee and, it is when can`t then that`s the time to worry.
