Have you discovered you have pubic lice (crabs) if so it`s not something you should seriously concern yourself about as it is a problem easily dealt with. Nonetheless it is an issue people find unacceptable because of circumstance in how they are caught. Until treatment is sought after to rid pubic lice the discomfort which derives from having crabs like intense itching can become somewhat unbearable at times.
Why is having crabs made out to be a big issue when they are easily rid with lice treatment. The vast majority of people infected with pubic lice is either embarrassed over having them or, feared to death that they might die from having them on their personal. Do people honestly believe this because after all they are only tiny insects? Well some folk do and need assuring that there is nothing to fear.
Pubic lice feed on human blood and without it normally die within two days. The adult pubic louse averages 1.1–1.8 millimeters in length, which makes them visible to the naked eye. Maybe not what you want to see but until you rid them altogether you will have to put up with the parasites. The best way to diagnose infestation of lice is by observing the white eggs or nits attached to pubic hair, and by the uncontrollable itch.
Crabs are not a serious affliction, and there are several effective methods for getting rid of them. Crabs are primarily acquired through direct contact with an infected person's genital area. They can also be acquired from clothing or linens of an infected person. Also and to put your mind at rest - death defying stunts like standing on a toilet seat rather than sit on it can cease as of now because, pubic lice are not commonly known to be caught this way. Cling on crabs can still lose grip and fall from pubic hair more often due to the lice being injured, dying, or dead. Change and boil wash underwear regular.
Pubic lice have six legs; their two front legs are large and look like the pincher claws of a crab. and are tan to grayish-white in color. Females lay nits and are usually larger than males.
Lice Treatment
Before treatment begins with whatever lice solution you have - make sure that it is "pubic lice" you have. Have your GP determine this. If a positive diagnosis of infestation of crabs has been served then the first step to take is, to trim your pubic hair. Cutting pubic hair will rid surface lice and eggs but will not remove the crab infestation; nevertheless it will increase the effectiveness of other treatments. There`s no need to panic and shave the genital area completely bald, it t is not necessary. The simplest way to trim pubes is with an electric beard trimmer. Make sure to wash and sanitize the trimmer after using it. All trimmed hair cuttings needs to be discarded as soon as, and not left hanging around.
Once the infected area is prepared and shorn you now need to get to the heart of the problem. Pubic lice have to be killed off with specially formulated shampoos or topical ointments created purely for this purpose. There are three chief active ingredients in lice treatments: permethrin, lindane, and malathion. Two regular permethrin shampoos are Rid and Nix. Elimite and Acticin are popular permethrin creams. The cream Kwell uses lindane as an active ingredient. Although all affective treatments, there are particular guidelines to follow with particular ones like Lindane products which should not be used by pregnant women or on children under two years of age. Certain treatments for lice may only come via prescription like Malathion lotion.
It is hard to hold back from scratching an itch around the genitals and, especially one brought about from pubic lice; however you have to do your best to avoid scratching because you can spread the infestation. Itching may still continue after the lice are removed for a short period of time. You can treat the itch using an antihistamine like Benadryl or calamine lotion.
The pubes will have to be thoroughly checked that you are completely rid. It only takes a couple of lice to re-infest. Use a nit comb to get rid of any eggs and lice carcasses. There is no need to tug at the hair whilst doing this – slow consistent movement is more ideal. The reason we suggest a nit comb is because particular shampoos creams and lotions may not kill all the eggs. It has to be a nit comb with spaces too small for the eggs to get through, and not your average every day hair parting piece. The incubation time of louse eggs is two weeks, so try to get them all with the comb.
If you`re embarrassed because you have crabs then don`t be as no one has to know you have them, unless you have infected another person. If you have then do the decent thing and tell them so they can seek treatment.
Most of the treatments for pubic lice are available over the chemist counter. Follow directions accordingly for each product. If you find the lice stubborn and difficult to rid or, have an adverse reaction to any louse treatments, see your GP. You may have misdiagnosed yourself, or you may have an allergy to the medication. I say hats off to you if you use condoms, but unfortunately condoms do not protect against this particular sexually transmitted issue (crabs) so keep this in mind.
Is practicing safe sex associated more with contraceptives? Well they certainly help prevent unwanted pregnancies and serious STDs; however safe sex is sensible sex, meaning it includes you being particular about, who you let lie with you in bed.
