What is tinnitus; it is a condition that affects the ears. Instead of what people who suffer from the condition would like to hear like music or soft sentiments - actually hear upsetting sounds like ringing, buzzing, crackling, or hissing sounds coming from inside one or both ears. Tinnitus not only affects the patient ear-wise but mentally too as it is a stressful ailment to have to put up with. Tinnitus is a result of the brain attempting to "rewire" itself when the ear has become damaged, resulting in a ringing noise. Patients diagnosed with having tinnitus can experience a wide range of noise creating a minor annoyance to debilitating pain depending on severity of their tinnitus. In our everyday lives we hear noise which includes traffic horns, bells of an ice cream van and sounds of water running etc; however these we hear by our own choice, unlike tinnitus sounds that comes from within the actual ear rather than from the outside environment.

Illnesses like the common cold and influenza, being in a noisy atmosphere, allergy flare-up, or various stimuli can up the intensity of tinnitus noise. You have to be extra careful when treating the ears as they are very sensitive body parts. Never must you poke or prod them; even the finger can burst an eardrum and, would you believe an ear bud specially devised for cleaning the ears can also if a heavy hand is used. There are a variety of natural treatments for tinnitus you can use but what you tend on treating the problem with should be Okayed by your GP. Pantothenic acid (B5) supplements may offer relief since it effectively coats the stressed nerve endings of the ear. There are four parts of the ear and tinnitus can happen in any one of these sections which include the outer ear, the middle ear, the inner ear and the brain. What reason is given for tinnitus developing, well the cause we connect to it happening is damage to the microscopic endings of the hearing nerve in the inner ear.

Advancing age is generally accompanied by a certain amount of hearing nerve impairment, and consequently tinnitus.  In today`s society, many tinnitus cases determined derived from over exposure to loud noises, for instance construction machinery  and other types of engine motors and more. Loud noise overtime can damage a person`s hearing.

It`s hard to understand how we have medication to make us better from one condition only to have that specific medication contradict another  condition actually causing other health problems. Aspirin and other diseases of the inner ear Meniere`s syndrome can cause tinnitus. Not common ,in fact very rare but an issue you need to be aware of is that tinnitus can be a symptom of the more serious condition aneurysm and alarmingly a brain tumor (acoustic tumor.) Now this is no time to panic when you read this and have ringing in your ears, because as pointed out this very rarely happens.
