Itchy Bum Causes & Instant Relief Treatments - Scratch No More Solution To Cure Rectal Anal Itching

How embarrassing is that itchy bum moment. People tend to cope with these moments, but when the bum itch lasts for what seems a lifetime leaving you know choice but to scrawb away at bottom flesh, then it is not acceptable, and especially more so for the people whose company you might be in at the time. If you scratch with vengeance then this indicates something is not right and unhealthy.

If you suffer from an itchy bum you`re not to worry, it is not a serious condition, more "embarrassing" than anything. Rectal itching tends to happen more often throughout the night. We look towards warmth as one reason of anal itching because at this time the skin is easily irritated and open to inflammation. To help prevent itchiness the anus has to be kept clean, anal skin is crinkly and traps faeces which have to be removed. The bottom is an area of the body that can at times become extremely sweaty and airless; it also moistens up from anal or vaginal discharge. These are all factors that may contribute to your problem.

Try to avoid scratching, not only is it unhygienic but very dangerous indeed if you use an object with which to relieve the itch.

Be careful with what treatments you use as well, as specific creams (oily) slime up the area more. Clean is the answer to this problem, that is, if the itchy bum is not caused by infection. Leaking faeces cling onto anal hair and therefore have to go. Faeces are made up of water (food that could not be digested,) and dead cells from the lining of the intestines and dead bacteria - all the solids that the body has no more call for. Poor hygiene is also a master cause of anal itching. To endorse an ideal fresh up for the anus needs no more than a gentle mild soap and warm water, and plenty of it, if grime is ground in so as to speak.

Scented toilet tissue and other bathroom products can cause anal problems. Some products contain alcohol or preservatives which can irritate - upsetting anal skin. Speak to your GP about particular medications because certain creams used for treating this, is actually known to start the problem. Be cautious about using anesthetic gels because most are for treating haemorrhoids' and contain lignocaine, tetracaine, cinchocaine, pramocaine or benzocaine with other ingredients. Nevertheless they do help with providing relief but not assured to keep the itch away.

Psoriasis and eczema cause problems to if located around the anus. Piles are known for itch partly due to the greasy discharge they create. If the issue is that of piles then what you need to look out for are the symptoms: pain after a bowel movement and a show of blood. The more severe case of piles might have you see a blood clot which can form in an outer pile which can also cause a stroke. If stools are bloody your GP may suggest you have a colonoscopy or rectal examination. This is where a camera is used to check for internal bleeding caused by polyps rather than piles. If bowel movements appear as black stools or there is an excessive gush of blood then seek treatment immediately. These particular symptoms are not what we expect from having hemorrhoids but more a matter in connection with internal bleeding or intestinal or colon cancer.

Fungal infections are reason also for an itchy bum. Fungi love warmth and because of this we find it located around the anus.

Threadworms (pinworms) measure approx 13 mm long and locate in the lower part of the bowel. Female threadworms leave the anus in the dark hours and lays eggs on anal skin which can result in a severe bout of itching. If you scratch, the eggs can embed under the fingernails and then transported to the mouth infesting the gut. Particular foods we eat can also cause rectal itching. These foods irritate the anus during defecation. Alcohol and spicy curries is a couple to name.

Ways to prevent and anal itching

Not sure of how much truth there is in this but it is said, rubbing the inside of a banana skin relieves anal itching. Seek advice before practicing with new treatments. Avoid foods that cause excessive flatulence. If your itching occurs primarily at night take antihistamine. Antihistamines although effectively help relieve itching it can also make you sleepy. If your condition is not improving it may be recommended you be referred to a specialist for an injection of a chemical called Methylene blue into the anal area. This problem can also derive from a yeast infection so try rubbing plain yogurt on the area for relief. An itchy bum is not a serious issue but if the itch is accompanied with blood then it has to be checked out.

Rectal bleeding (hematochezia) refers to passage of bright red blood from the bottom, often combined with stool and/or blood clots. It is called rectal bleeding due to location i.e. the rectum lying immediately over the anus. Although bleeding may be presumed coming from the rectum, it can come from other parts of the gastrointestinal tract. Generally, mild rectal bleeding can be evaluated and treated in the doctor's surgery.

A sufferer with moderate bleeding will continually pass larger amounts of bright or dark red blood often combined with blood clots. Those with severe bleeding may pass numerous bowel movements or one bowel movement consisting of a large amount of blood. Moderate or severe rectal bleeding can rapidly deplete a person's body of blood, resulting in weakness, dizziness, fainting, and signs of low blood pressure or orthostatic hypotension.

Not common but known if bleeding is mighty severe, it can cause shock from the loss of blood. If at any time you experience something that concerns you, then you are not to panic or ponder over it. You need to see your doctor so an appropriate prescription is given to treat your problem; it is only your doctor that has the diagnosis to what you may be suffering from and no one else. Some folk think they are doing well by offering their advice and suggesting different methods and solutions for you to use, when in fact what they have to say or recommend you do, could possibly kill you.

Hello Kacy carr I was wondering if you might be able to help me. I have really bad anal itching and for some reason that's not enough I also gotta have white flaking stuff coming out of my butt every night and morning. I don't think it's pinworms but what the hell do I know. It's like dandruff it's so weird and there's alot of it every night and morning. And it's @#$@#&*ing me off I don't wanna go to a doctor because I have no health insurance. I wash my bum every morning and night like a mad man and still nothing. And it's not a couple of flakes ofcourse it was to be alot of em. I been searching on google to try and find a name of the damn flakes but got nothing. Out of all the things to have I have a ass problem. I scratched so damn hard that my skin down there is gone :( and wake up with flakes on my boxers and bed and don't know what the hell to do. Hi- you surely are going through the mill. You say your sure its not pin worms. Have you considered the possibilty of it being a skin condition, such as psoriasis or eczema which can affect the skin round the anus, hence white flakes when you scratch. Then theres even the matter of a fungal infection like thrush which is another common cause for an itchy bum. Fungi love warm, damp and damaged skin, so if you have an itchy anus for any reason and then damage the skin by scratching, the fungi can take hold and make it worse.

Its very hard for me to say what I think it is without seeing the problem. I can only suggest you go down another route and look for other reasons like eczema etc and compare the symptoms of that condition to what you are suffering, and if similar treat it as such (Although a GP should be consulted first ).

You say theres lots of flakes, its likely your scratching in your sleep and the white flakes is what I would say is dry skin (like a dandruff). If this be the case you could treat it as dry skin problem. You know like how you would if you had dandruff coming from the scalp - you would use dandruff shampoo. Nonetheless you have to be careful that whatever product you use is for this purporse.

The itchy bum problem is something that some people have to learn to live with because I know of many that have tried every trick in the book but still scratch. Of course there are medications they use to ease the issue but they say it keeps coming back.

I would like to say go and compare your symptoms to eczema or dry skin and if you feel this could be your problem then treat accordingly and see how you go on, but I am not the person that should be telling you this whereas the doctor is, but you say this is not covenient. I suggest you pop into the chemist and ask the pharmasist as many questions as it takes to get answers. And from the information he/she gives you, then its likley you might get an incline as to what is causing you so much grief and an insight to the best approach to deal with it

Come back and let me know how you get on

What are you like - I bet under different circumstance you would love a hot chick to be around. Okay so your the embarrassed type, but you might have through your blushing thrown away the chance to get to know that hot chick a little more who may really have cared about your itchy issue and glad to be of help. Anyhow what's done is done, you "CHICKened" out and have to go elsewhere. Don't forget to come back and let me know how you get on

now sorry to say I woke up with two patches on my gens that itch like crazy. So I'm screwed with no health insurance I don't know what to do. Inverse psoriasis sucks I need to

Hey Joe so okay you have no health insurance, I expect this goes for a lot of other people that have psoriasis just like you. Now if we have this many people badly suffering from an itchy bum - then surely there would be a lot of irate and depressed people out there which we are not seeing, so maybe they have found some solution to ease their discomfort.

Joe have you visited any forums with people talking about their psoriasis and how they are coping. Who knows you might get lucky and find something there that can help. Oh Joe I wish I could be more helpful, if something comes to my attention in the meantime I will get back to you

Stay safe my friend

Hi I have had an itchy bottom for a few days now, and don't no what to do, I have tried cream but it feels horrible. Also I am finding it hard to poo and when I do only little comes out compared to normal. Please help me
» left by Kacy Carr 1 year 343 days ago.
Hi Joseph its always best to have these things checked out by a medic, not because it maybe serious, but because you need to know for sure what you are treating. It could be just an irritation, or it could be something such as pinworms or even jock itch.

You could try washing with a mild soap, letting the area dry well, wearing loose cotton underpants, not using premoistened wipes, and applying 1% hydrocortisone cream SPARINGLY. However this may not be a good move if you have another condition that might need a different type of treatment, and which your doctor would be able to determine so the right medication can be prescribed. There are many conditions that can give cause for an itchy bum, and thats why its important you know what is the cause of yours..

Is there a reason why you haven't gone to your doctor to rid or ease the problem?
Come back if you need me

Hi there, you are to going through the mill. The cause of your itchy bottom, and because you have tried most things and nothing is helping then it could be due to hemorrhoids, of course it’s hard to say whether it is, or isn’t without seeing the affected area. Has anyone considered this as the problem i.e. doctor.

Hemorrhoids can be painful. They are veins in the rectal and anal area which become swollen. I am not saying this is your problem, but it’s worth considering a Hemorrhoid cream given by your doctor in case this is the cause of your discomfort

If bum itch is not caused by anything serious then it’s usually a result of sweat, or faeces left behind after bowel movement, tight clothing or the anus being clammy all the time. Look towards focusing on theses causes to find out if one be the cause of your issue.

I am sorry I couldn’t be more helpful but do come back if you need me

Hi, I had this problem about a week ago but the itching wasn't too bad and it didn't last for more than a day or two but over the last few days it has returned and is twice as bad. I tried some hydrocortisone for about a day but it didn't seem to help at all and I stopped, worrying it might be making things worse. I really don't think I can stand the itching much longer, it's been waking me up routinely at about 5 each morning for the past 3 days and at some points it's all I can do not to scratch. Going to the doctors at the moment isn't really an option because my parents have gone away for a few weeks but I don't think I can wait that long for relief. I don't think it's caused by food or not cleaning properly and I don't really know what it could be but it itches almost incessantly. Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated, thankyou :)

Hi there how frustrating this is for you. Of course when something gets as bad as you say then it is up to the doctor to investigae further if your usual medications are not helping. Out of curiosty is there any time you can pin point when its not a problem (in the bath) etc For your typical itch then we say loose clothing and cleansing blah blah blah but you are already keeping the area clean etc. I would still do this and in my bath water I would add some salt and soak then "pat" the skin dry thoroughly and see if it helps. It could slightly sting if you have scatched and torn the skin but it won't last long. Other from that it maybe a case for the doctor if it is severe

Hi again, there aren't really any times when it stops completely it just dulls, not really at any specific time though just throughout most of the day then gets worse in the afternoon and at night, though last night I didn't notice it much. Is there any other way to try the salt without a bath because we only have a shower. Also today I think there was a bit of blood on the toilet paper, does that mean it's serious? Thank you so much though, I''ll take any help I can get :)
» left by Kacy Carr 1 year 269 days ago.
Hi there - you are in a bad way and I am sorry to hear that. So there was blood on the tissue, this I would say is either from torn skin from the scratching, or it could likely be Piles/Hemorrhoids. This is why the doctor is the person who can accurately diagnose the problem.

As for the salt I would use a clean compress and soak it in diluted salt water and dab the area, however I do think its best if you could get this matter clarified before messing about with different treatments that might not be connected to what it is that is causing you so much discomfort. Come back if you need me

Hi again thank you so much for listening to all my problems, you really are a life saver. I think I will just have to manage the itching as well as I can until I can get to the doctor, though today it seemed better I think, maybe? Anyway thank you again it's been really helpful to have someone to talk to about these things.

I have this itchy nightmare on the cheeks of the bum. Its really unbearable. But luckily, I have a loving and caring husband to buy and apply the medicine he bought from the chinese medicine hall. But it takes longer time to be treated. May i ask, what is the cause for it so that i can prevent it in future. Thanks !
» left by Kacy Carr 1 year 203 days ago.
Hi this sounds very annoying. The itchiness can be a result of many things. Aside from the obvious like sensitive skin being irritated by certain fabrics, or sweating, you may have a skin disorder if it’s not going away completely after using the chinese medicine. Have you tried your every day moisturizer on the area in case its a bout of dry stubborn skin. Because we can’t pinpoint exactly what it is that’s causing you this discomfort can you not pop along to see your doctor to get appropriate medication, in case the chinese medicine is for relief when you want a cure?

I am sorry I couldn’t be more helpful

» left by Kacy Carr 1 year 195 days ago.
Hi sorry for the delay with this response. You can be the cleanest person and still suffer this. Sometimes when you have tried every trick in the book then its time to see a doctor because there could be several conditions responsible for why this is happening and why it won't go away. Dry skin disorders can sometimes cause this problem in this area. In some cases there are only certain medications that can help with relief which can only be prescribed by a doctor. Is it not possible for you to book an appointment with your GP so to get rid of the discomfort and get an accurate diagnosis.

Sorry I could'nt be more helpful

Hopefully I will get a response. It's 5 am and I am awake due to itching. I have been dealing with this problem for three years and have tried everything a doctor has prescribed me. Nothing has fixed my itchy bum!!! I have been poked up there tons of times and they have felt no hemmorids!!! I have tried creams, pills, different cleaning methods and it still has not gone away! I have seen a dermatologist who prescribed loprox cream which does not seem to be working!! I have had my own doctor give up on me, so I see others hoping for a cure! Nothing has fixed my problem yet! Yes it's embarrassing, but also frustrating!!! I don't know what to do!!! Please help me!
