Women suffering from a vaginal infection are doing themselves more harm by not having it treated by their doctor. The biggest problem why this is is, because of the part of the body which is infected. Women due to their embarrassment will do their best to avoid a consultation with their GP to talk about their bits but even more so, at having to show them. If you have a vaginal infection have you not considered treating it yourself to avoid them blushes? You can easily cure the problem yourself; however before you attempt to do this it is vital that you know exactly what infection you have and aware of any risks that particular medications can impose if there are any. Natural vaginal infection solutions don`t come with risks and get 10 out of 10 for having no side effects. One primary reason why women don`t have much luck with their own curing process is because they treat the wrong vaginal infection.
Thrush is an infection brought on by yeast called Candida. It is natural to find Candida living on human skin. It normally exists in small numbers and is referred to as being friendly, that is if stays a small group. The immune system and the job of the harmless bacteria that also lives on human skin and in the vagina usually help prevent Candida from flourishing. Unfortunately, when conditions change for the best for Candida, it masses greatly and attacks the vagina resulting in thrush symptoms. Candida likes it warm and moist where it settles, so this answers the question why it happens in and around the vagina. Other body parts showing Candida include the groin and the mouth.
Below we will address two of the most common vaginal infections
Symptoms of vaginal thrush
- BV vaginal discharge is usually creamy white thick and sometimes watery
- Thrush causes itchiness and redness
- Pain maybe felt outside of the vagina
Topical treatments are pessaries and creams which are inserted inside the vagina. Anti-yeast creams can be rubbed around the vagina (the vulva) for a few days, to help relieve itchiness. Medicinal tablets for treating thrush infection are called Fluconazole and Itraconazole. Oral and topical treatments are equally effective. But oral pills are more convenient, but are more expensive than most topical treatments. You may be eligible to get these on prescription due to your circumstances.
'Natural' solutions for thrush include: live yoghurt rubbed gently inside the vagina; add vinegar or bicarbonate of soda to bath water to alter the acidity of the vagina; steep tampons with tea tree oil. Unfortunately there is no concrete proof of these suggestions working. You must get a second opinion on new remedies you want to try.
Be wary when taking antibiotics or in better terms monitor yourself while taking them as they are known to be responsible in playing a part in vaginal yeast infections happening. Antibiotics spur on fungal and yeast infections which will in due course be seen as one additional reason of cancer since more oncologists are seeing yeast and fungal infections as a vital part of cancer and its grounds. Antibiotics are usually prescribed to kill bacteria in all sorts of conditions but while doing so, they can kill some of the body`s friendly bacteria. When this happens, Candida rises to it and takes advantage growing in great numbers.
Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is not an infection that normally causes vaginal soreness or itchiness like thrush. It is also not a STI. Antibiotics usually clear BV. Bacterial vaginosis is a vaginal disorder caused by an overgrowth of various bacteria.
- The main symptom of BV is a vaginal discharge
- Discharge is usually a white-grey color, and has an unpleasant odor (fishy smell.) The odor is at its strongest while having sexual intercourse.
- Vaginal discharge can be heavy just after a period.
Vaginitis means inflammation of the vagina, and what inflammation means is plenty of symptoms that cause discomfort. Infections are mostly responsible for Vaginitis, but so are allergies to particular products.
What causes vaginitis? Well would you believe thrush is namely one of the causes?
Symptoms of vaginitis include
- A change in vaginal discharge (smell and color)
- Vaginal itching
- Burning feeling on the inside of the vagina.
- Uneasiness when passing urine
- Discomfort during sexual intercourse.
Gonorrhoea is caused by the gonococcus bacteria. It is a disease that is transmitted sexually. Not everyone infected will suffer any symptoms, however if they do then more times than not, symptoms are burning pain when urinating.
Herpes is caused by the herpes simplex virus and falls into the category of being classed as a sexually transmitted disease. Even the smallest cold sore can pass this onto the genital area. Herpes locates at the vaginal opening and appear as small blisters.
As with any infection and depending on the severity it can be severe but with a urinary tract infection severe you swap with serious. A urinary tract infection (UTI), also called cystitis, is an infection that happens when bacteria enter the urinary tract and cause tissue damage in the urethra, bladder, and/or kidneys.
A staggering estimation of between the figures of 50% to 80% of women suffers a UTI at sometime. The female is more likely to develop the infection because of their anatomy. The distance between the bladder and the urethral opening is much shorter in women. Because the opening is near to the vagina and rectum it gives trouble bacteria room to move freely around this spot. The male urethral tube is longer and its opening is further from the rectum.
UTI symptoms for both male and female include:
- Severe burning during urination
- Intense pain while urinating
- Feeling impelled to wee often when you don`t want to go
- The need to urinate but passing little urine
- Bloody urine
- Strong odor in the morning
- If a UTI reaches a late stage, you might experience fever, sickness and pain in the lower back as the infection reaches the kidneys. It is of the utmost importance that you seek medical attention because unlike severe as mentioned earlier, when it reaches this stage it is very serious indeed - possibly life-threatening
- Allow sufficient air circulation around the genitals. Swap nylon underwear with cotton panties
- Eat nutritious foods. Cut down on caffeine and alcohol. Include unsweetened cranberry juice to your diet it can help make the bladder and urethra more acidic and more hostile to infectious bacteria.
- Empty the bladder fully when peeing
- Change sanitary protection regular
- Urinate after sexual intercourse to clear the urethra of bacteria and relieve pressure on the bladder.
Did you know when you treat your own vaginal infection you rid vaginal odour at the same time.
