Trendy Outfits - What is a fat person's fashion? Well it's the way an overweight person would dress because the latest trendy outfits that's just hit the high street shops and boutiques is not designed with their shape and size in mind. Unfortunately large women are limited on choice when it comes to fashion garments, and usually end up having to create their own fashion. This can prove to be difficult if you have no fashion sense, or no good with a needle and cotton.

The good news is over the last few years the fashion industries has recognized this problem and now work to accommodate the pleasantly plump, big boned and fat frumpy people who want to be in with the in crowd.

Most people who are fat are not just fat; they are "miserably fat." Of course there's a solution to this and that is for the obese to lose weight if they want to wear the latest trendy outfit, but what of them who carry excess weight due to illness or other. Give these fashion designers their due, they did for a time take heed of the fat man/woman's pleas, but did they do much about it, no, most designers still direct their energies and create for the slim woman. Proof has it when you go shopping. In every boutique and clothes shops there is rail after rail… host to an abundance of chic trendy dresses, sexy pants, tight jeans, boob tubes, hot pants etc, but only "one" rail of clothes for the large woman…why? Doesn't this tell you that fashion designers are not taking enough heed? Thankfully we have considerate mail order catalogues and a few shops that cater for the bigger woman wanting to wear trendy outfits?

Fashionable designer gear does not come cheap, and this we know for sure because those involved who design are "clever" people that rake in loads of money, however not clever enough. Why don't designers double their money and cash in on the plight plaguing the world, I refer to obesity. With obesity being a major problem around the globe wouldn't you think that boutiques would have "one" clothes rail for the slim woman, and the rest for them overweight? Designers are selfish people taking your hard earned cash for so little cloth, making it hard to understand why they haven't got that little bit greedier.

I have weighed up the pros and cons and believe those so called selfish clever people have not catered for the obese in  case it's seen as encouraging fat people not lose to weight. Somehow I don't think this is their motive. But some good can come out of this. Designers should take time out and think on how they can help the people of the world who have weight problems.

Example Idea

Have shop/boutiques give men/women an incentive when they come in to buy. The store owner should install weighing scales and have a camera to hand. Let us say a man or woman purchases a designer dress, skirt, pants or shirt at one of those extortionate prices, this then tells you that at any cost they want to be in fashion. So imagine how they would jump for joy if they got a trendy outfit at half the cost.

Give the customer the opportunity to qualify for this half price offer by taking the challenge to beat the bulge. Ask the person to step on the weighing scales and take a photo of them dressed in the garment they bought. Now give the man/woman a printout of the photo and her weight. He/she now has to lose a certain amount of weight within a safe time period. When she/he goes back to the shop after reaching their target weight, then the next trendy outfit created by their favorite fashion designer is sold to them at half the price. Some shop owners may think this a hassle; helping the world obesity problem shouldn't be classed as hassle. And another plus from this is shop owners are guaranteed a sale later down the line, and maybe more if people keep on losing weight. Because after all them rails are full of chic outfits for slim people. Selling designer gear at half the price will still see the designer's bank balance sky rocket.

Trendy fashionable tips for fat people

Wear clothes that compliment the parts of your body that may be bigger than other sections, like your belly, breasts, your hips or your bum. Fat can be flattering and desirable if you dress appropriately.

Other fashion tips for overweight people don't lie just with clothes, Jewelry and the way your hair is worn can make a huge difference.

Once again we look towards the neck when it comes to hairstyles.  Long hair on a stumpy frame can hog the shoulders giving an impression of a short neck looking even shorter. Wear your hair up or swept back of the face and shoulders.

Like it or not fat will always attract the wrong sort of attention if you don't dress accordingly to compliment the parts of your body that is out of proportion.

Are you carrying excess weight and dieting, but results are not coming fast enough in time for the party or whatever event you want to look good for. Not to worry here are some trendy dress styles and clothing options you can opt for.

Big women don't need to create fashion to faltter and suit their shape and size; it is their attitude that will do this.  A good attitude about yourself in relation to what you wear will help pull off the appearance you wish for.

Halter tops have never died out with fashion, and they are most popular in the hot months, however if you are small and rounded you shouldn't wear a halter neck top, There are other ways you can keep cool and look great in summertime. Women with a flabby stomach shouldn't wear tight fitting low jeans; instead wear high-wasted jeans.

Frilly blouses will draw attention away from a fat belly.

"To get it right avoid tight" just about sums it up.

Junk food, lack of exercise and giving up on yourself are serious issues that need to be addressed by you. Although you can look good in clothes of appropriate fit for your shape, you will never feel good if you're miserably fat. So cut out junk food, take up exercise and tell yourself you are the best and it's not miserably fat you will be, but mighty fit

Oversized people have the right to be at the edge of fashion. Coliseum Suits can help you find a fit / type of garment that will flatter your body type.

Are Coliseum Suits actual clothing or the name of a garment manufacturer?  I am heavy and carry a lot of the excess around my mid-drift, belly, and rear end.  Finding clothing that "fits" is next to impossible so is easier to stay home than try looking nice.

This is the stupidest thing I have ever read. Fat girls can dress however they want to. The so-called obesity crisis is nothing but a sham based on bad science.

You bet, we fat girls can dress any way we want but if we want to look good, like anything else, there are guidelines.  Obesity, from experience, does not grant you the privilege of dressing any way and even remotely hoping it is complimentary to you.  I am not a size 10 and guessing at what heavier people go through, I am a size 26 and can't always get into that size.  AND I certainly don't look good when I  have the appearance of a 10# sausage in a 5# skin!!!

I would love to feel good when I look my best but know it will take some definite basic guidelines to get me there.  Needless to say, I am still traveling.  I have not reached my destination yet.

Hi Miserable Mary please don't be despondent. "AND I certainly don't look good" you say. How right you are in a lot of what you say, but if I may, I would like to say you can look good, if not better every time. You seem to have the attitude to make  this to happen. If we can take the misery out of your life " YOU ceratinly will look good. I have a niece the same size as you who always pulled herself down and thought she was never good enough for any one. We worked together more on her confidence than her fashion, and now she is in a relationship and expecting her first baby. I have no doubt the journey your on is that you will get to where you are heading

Hi Megan I wish a lot of girls would take a leaf out of your book and make their own clothes too. So many girls who carry excess weight become so despondent when they can't find garments to fit them, when the answer for most lies with a needle and cotton.

Hi - Depending on how fat we talk here, Marilyn Monroe the worlds sexiest screen godess who was wooed by presidents and lusted after by men all around the world was in a size 14-16 and believed to have the perfect hourglass figure, so I guess if you get a picture up of her then not only will you see someone that was stylish, but a woman who in her day had plenty of money because of her size.

Keep well

Actually this is incorrect. Marilyn Monroe measurements were: 36-23-37 At her highest weight she was, with today's vanity sizing, was a size 12 tops.

I'm a big ol pig and no one around here sells clothes that'll fit me. I live in downtown chicago and all they sell is high fashion skinny clothes around my neighborhood. Definitly not clothes me or my fellow piggies on here can fit into. What to do, besides continuing to alter cloths.

Hi Patty I think you know what I am going to say, if you are not handy with a needle and cotton then how are you at following a diet to get the solution. You and your fella both could have fun together doing this, Aside from this you may have to send out of town to companies that deal with the oversized woman which could prove to be more expensive.
Keep well

the article did more for the store owner than the clothes buyer. You should give options of stores the cater to hard to fit women and then guarantee to see they fit

Sorry and I agree it would have been best to name the stores, what I don't agree with is how you ended this comment with "The customer husband" from what I can see a "Caring" one. Keep well
