What is the most serious vaginal infection that women should be wary about? It wouldn't be right to single out one in particular because all infections are deemed a staid concern. Whatever body part is affected by infection, and depending on which infection is present, if complications occur it can seriously do damage to a person's health.
It's more than likely, even though the same infection is involved that one woman will suffer and cope differently from the next woman. One woman might feel more pain, while the next woman with the "exact same" vaginal infection might find the irritation, or the stinging sensation when peeing, or skin scabs more upsetting. Maybe now you can understand purely for this reason why an accurate assumption of one infection being more serious than another can't be given because some women tend to think there is no condition worse than their own.
Let's forget what women think and focus on what vaginal infections medical experts say are the most serious. If it were left up to some women they would have us believe that a mild case of cystitis is worse than the third stage of syphilis.
An infection is something not to be taken lightly or ignored because of the increased risk of it spreading if left without treatment. And spread it will if you evade the issue of seeking treatment. If you're uncomfortable about seeing a doctor then you may not have to, you can like thousands of other women safely and effectively treat your own vaginal yeast infection under the "guidance" of a medic of which can be found online.
First let us address some of the vaginal infections so you know what you're up against should you become infected.
Vaginal Yeast Infection
If you're experiencing vaginal irritation then this can signify a vaginal yeast infection or vulvovaginal candidiasis has occurred. All women have a small amount of yeast in their vagina, and symptoms only appear with mass overgrowth. Several issues linked to increased symptomatic infection in women, includes pregnancy, unrestrained diabetes mellitus, oral contraceptives even antibiotics. Other reasons for occurrence is usually through self inflicted doings of our own, like using douches, scented sprays, and topical antimicrobial agents, and wearing tight poorly ventilated under garments. Vaginal yeast infections is not logged down on medical records tied to being sexually transmitted, however depending on the cause could say different.
Symptoms
- Itching of the vulva
- Pain with urination
- Vulvar soreness or irritation
- Pain with intercourse or reddened and swollen vulvar and vaginal tissues
Although antihistamines or topical anesthetics are good for treating the symptoms they are not getting to the root of the problem. If the cause is not completely removed or cured there is every possibility of it returning, hence repeat episodes.
Vaginitis causes inflammation of the vagina and is distinguished by vaginal discharge, odor, irritation, and/or itching. Although tests done by your GP to make a diagnosis is usually always a 100% right, it is usual for the doctor, even though familiar with what symptoms to expect with vaginitis will send a sample of vaginal fluid off for further testing (microscopic evaluation) just to be sure…because vaginitis can't be determined satisfactorily solely on the basis of symptoms or a physical examination. Infections are normally responsible for vaginitis occurring among women of childbearing age, and BV being one of those. Bacterial vaginosis (BV for short) is linked with sexual activity and reflects modification in the vaginal ecosystem. This imbalance, including pH amendments, happens when various bacteria outnumber the usual ones. Instead of Lactobacillus bacteria being the most plentiful, augmented numbers of organisms such as Gardnerella vaginalis, Bacteroides, Mobiluncus, and Mycoplasma hominis are found in the vagina of women suffering from bacterial vaginosis. Chief symptom of BV is a malodorous (fishy smelling) discharge.
STDs - Trichomoniasis is caused by a single-celled protozoan parasite called "trichomonas vaginalis." The tiny parasite is found in the vagina and urethra. Commonly passed on to others through - sexual intercourse (vaginal) - transferred from mother to baby at birth and shared sex play things.
Symptoms in women:
- Increased vaginal discharge which may be thin or foamy
- Change in color (yellow-green or grey)
- Musty or fishy smell
- Vaginal itching, soreness and inflammation
- Pain when weeing or having sexual intercourse
- Tenderness in the lower abdomen but "seldom" pain
- Watery, whitish discharge from the head of the penis
- Pain or burning when passing urine
If you have reason to believe you have the disease or another type of STD then pop along to a genitourinary medicine (GUM) clinic. These are special establishments dealing solely in conditions of this sort so medical staff will know what they are doing. There is no charge for the service provided in a GUM clinic and everything you say or do is kept completely confidential, even your doctor won't know unless you instruct the clinic medics to do so. To find a GUM clinic look in the phone book or go online and search for genitourinary medicine (GUM.)
If you're suffering from a vaginal infection, vaginal pimples, warts, vaginal rash and you're scared then this is a perfectly normal reaction. Everyone fears the unknown and because of this fear the issue is not addressed making matters worse.
Embarrassment is another reason for retreat or not wanting to hear what it is you fear. In most cases of running scared it is the worry of having caught a sexually transmitted disease. Well you won't know unless you check it out. As for being embarrassed you're not on your own, you wouldn't be human if you didn't mind strangers, doctor or not poking around your privates. There are more and more patients being treated for other conditions than the one they first initially complained about because they didn't seek medical attention.
Did you know when you treat your own vaginal infection you rid vaginal odour at the same time.
