Searchwarp Awareness Day - Bye Bye Existing Authors & Make Way For New Writers

There are 365 days in a year, and each one of them will have a special meaning for most people regardless of the color of their skin, or the accent they talk with. Every day people all around the world will either rejoice, or celebrate to mark an event that has happened in their life. Some of them being happy occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, passing a driving test, retirement or whatever, but then we have the not so happy days, that some people would rather forget.

Aside from our own personal remembrance's, those 365 days are celebrated in many other ways. People with specific beliefs, or, have compassion about the health and welfare of others will tirelessly run awareness campaigns to give us nudge…a sort of wakeup call if you like.

The amount of people oblivious to serious matters that can affect their health and how they live the rest of their life is quite alarming, and if it weren't for awareness campaigns some of us could be dead. A little harsh I know but it's the truth.

Particular awareness campaigns are there to alert people to be wary, or take note. We have the genuine folk who will prick their ears and listen to the warnings because they want help and guidance, but then we have the ignorant, that the nudge is not enough, but a prod.

Okay, I must agree there are some idiotic purposes that don't make sense that are celebrated on special dates, but you need to remember, whoever brought these nonsensical awareness ideas to light will have had their reason for doing so. But the not so silly awareness dates like them for breast cancer, or stop child abuse, and more - do make sense, and need to be taken heed of.

We have a date coming up real soon that could affect those who write for Searchwarp. Existing Searchwarpers could be left sitting on the back burner come Friday 16th October 2009

"Everybody Writes Day"

If you have writers block this day you could face problems.

"Everybody Writes Day" Awareness campaign includes:

Everybody Writes Day is a yearly celebration of writing in schools. Primary and secondary schools collapse the curriculum for one full day to honor writing in all its forms.  Every child and staff employee gets to enjoy writing – including catering staff, site managers and parent volunteers.  Schools may elect to run one big writing event to engage all pupils, or opt for a series of playful and engaging writing activities. Everybody Writes Day is on Friday 16th October 2009, but you could plan to hold your own Everybody Writes Day at another time of year, perhaps coinciding with an Arts Week or Summer Fair.

Wouldn't it be great if schools were to propose as one of those activities, that all involved, even the dinner ladies who feed the kids, encourage them to write a poem, short story or put pen to paper about their favorite hobby. Depending on age for this activity the teacher should choose one to submit to Searchwarp for publication. If they are successful with their submission then this could be an ongoing thing. It's a win win situation for both Searchwarp and the budding new author. Searchwarps role is to do what they already do with their regular authors, and that is to take them under their wing and show them the way, while the schools participant is able to share, promote and be heard.

It's sad seeing great talent going unnoticed. This is the perfect opportunity for these so called know it all teachers to help these kids who haven't got a clue how good they are, and if they did, wouldn't know where to start to share their writing skills. Because of this both writer and reader miss out. One of the activities could include the tutor/teacher setting the child, or whoever the task of writing an article. This is a powerful start for any child's future if this is the route in life they have planned for themselves after leaving school.

I say to the supposedly educated people who teach our children, is to "take to advantage" of (Everybody Writes Day,) and give them who want to be an author an opening. We all have to start somewhere and if writing articles for Searchwarp comes before publication of a novel then so be it. A great many writers on Searchwarp today you may bet wished they had an opportunity presented to them like this when at school. Some of the top selling authors i.e. "Catherine Cookson aged 42" (my favorite) started late in life, so it's never too late. I often think did her writing skills go unnoticed in school, if this be the case then I feel deprived of how many more interesting novels I could have had the pleasure of reading..

Plan you're "everybody writes day" and visit the Searchwarp site where authors write every day of the year whether its 16th October or not.

Its always good to encourage new writers. Many people, young and old have good things to say, if they are just shown how and given the platform! Julian

Hi Julian yes there are many people with good things to say and need that so called platform you mention. I think many of us on Searchwarp also could have done with that platform  a little earlier. Thank you Julian for commenting it is much appreciated by an author who thinks she has fell off the platform because I never get many comments, however you have just shown me the way and I am getting back up

Hi Kacy, I wouldn't worry too much about "getting comments". There are more people out there who prefer just to read without having to interact aswell. Your searchwarp score shows that your readership levels are through the roof, so your writing is being seen, read and digested by many, many people! I have been blessed enough to have a few articles appear on the front page of Searchwarp but comments are usually just a few, if any. I appreciate every comment I get and I fully understand the urge to see some feedback on what we have written, thats just natural but dont be discouraged by a lack of comments. Enjoy your writing and do it because you love it, you have the searchwarp score to prove your writing is appreciated. I sense an article brewing about "comments" lol Julian :)

Cheers for this response Julian because now I feel I am on cloud nine, or is my platform just getting higher. And your articles that's placed on the first page of Searchwarp are there for a reason, need I spell it out. Good authors who write good articles get good placings.

Thanks again Julian

We'll have to come up with a way to commemorate this day.

Yes that would be nice Bruce and great for them looking for guidance, because even the experts need that from time to time. So it is important for the inexperienced (maybe not in their wirting) to be shown the way, and lets hope Searchwarp is their chosen destination
