What are warts? This is a frequently asked question by people looking for answers to why their warts have suddenly appeared from out of the blue, and to what possibly could have caused them. Some people don't notice they have warts until they are full blown. Warts don't just appear out of nowhere, it may seem like they to, but like with most conditions they fester for a long time before actually making themselves known in one way or another, for example: a person with a fever may break out in a rash after the hot sweats, or a boil coming to a head after a small lookalike pimple takes it's true form.

Genital warts are a good example to use. Genital warts usually the result of the Human papilloma virus (HPV) which is the most common sexually transmitted infection that may not show warts for weeks, months or even years, that's if they ever appear at all. These types of wart look like small red or white bumps and may grow single or in cauliflower-like mounds, or they could be flat and barely visible. So you see where I am coming from when referring to the above about the mention of warts appearing out of nowhere. Genital warts are either visible or barely visible to the eye. While on the subject of genital warts, another symptom aside from how they appear on the skin, they can cause itchiness but rarely painful. There are over 100 types of human papilloma virus that can infect the body. Some strains lead to warts on people's hands and soles of the feet, but these are in a different class to genital warts.

The vast majority of people who find a wart/s who know nothing about them naturally fear the worst. Some become so scared to an extent they think they have something like leprosy and will have to wear a bell around their neck to sygnify "unclean" Forget the bell and any fears you have about being quarantined. Warts are not a life threatening condition, nonetheless they are ugly, and depending on which body part they're located, are an eyesore. People with warts become "paranoid" more than they do over the issue of "embarrassment" which both emotions can affect your health seriously.

Warts are skin growths caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV.) The virus encourages quick growth of cells on the skin's outer layer. Usual spots where you might spot warts are normally on the fingers, near the fingernails, or on the hands. Unfortunately this area is embarrassing for them whose type of work includes them working with people where the hands are on display all day long. Wearing gloves to solve the problem is not an ideal solution so it's a matter of using wart treatment to rid the warts to further avoid embarrassing moments. Warts don't restrict development to specific parts of the body like the hands and fingers; they affect other body parts too.

Different types of warts

What causes warts

Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a contagious virus and easily passed on by direct contact with an infected person or from an object the person has touched. Symptoms of warts will have you see tiny, grainy bumps that feel rough if you touch them Hands have to be cleaned every time you make contact with the warts. Most warts are flesh-colored, tan, pinkish, or white. Warts sometimes may look as if they are riddled with black dots, which are tiny clotted blood vessels.

How are warts treated

Warts are harmless and no reason for concern, and in many cases the warts disappear into the blue just like they appeared out of it, without wart treatment. Depending on what type of person you  are, waiting around for the warts to go without help might not be for you. If this is the case speak with your GP to have the warts removed. Warts can reappear even after treatment. Removing warts with medical help to clear the warts might require several attempts.

Wart treatments:

Other wart medicines and solutions

Bleomycin is a method which if you don't like needles then you might chose to avoid this removal method, however if its suggested by your doctor you could turn your head (depending on wart location.) Bleomycin is injected into a wart to kill the virus. Imiquimod (Aldara) is an immunotherapy medicine that comes in the form of a prescription ointment. Although the Aldara creams purpose is for treating genital warts, it is effective on all types of warts, but nonetheless if ever in doubt about any sort of treatments for whatever conditions or disorders have your doctor check them first. Bleomycin, once injected produces flu-like symptoms. For this reason, patients might be pre-medicated with Tylenol.

Minor surgery will include a medic cut away the warts, and destroy the base using an electric needle. The area is prepped for surgery and usually freezed first with (cryosurgery). Surgery is usually the last option if the warts are stubborn and cannot be removed by other therapies.  Laser surgery maybe one consideration

Can warts be prevented

You can consider covering warts with bandages while doing certain chores to reduce the risk of spreading the virus or wearing gloves. If you're preparing food then the type of gloves you see a butcher or surgeon use is ideal. Keep your hands dry at every convenience because warts are more difficult to control when moist or damp. Use your own hair brush; comb and razor as the virus is easily spread through items as such. Wash your hands and treat all infected body parts with gentle medicated lotion for protection, soap is fine, but medicated is your best bet all round, not only from helping prevent the wart virus being passed on, but further stop you from catching germs of another source.
