Lady Gaga over a week ago performed at The Royal Variety Show in front of the queen with her new single and since then has shot up the music charts going in at number 1 with her single Bad Romance, removing Peter Kay's Children In Need song from its position.

It's the third UK chart-topper this year for Lady Gaga. Other all time favorite Christmas songs going into the top 20 was Fairytale of New York by The Pogues and Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas." Mariah Carey, Slade (Noddy Holder) with "Merry Christmas" and Wham's (George Micheal) "Last Christmas" are most popular Christmas songs played at Xmas.

Christmas don't get any better with the release of Susan Boyle's "I Dreamed a Dream" music album which is in its third week on top of the album chart. Lady Gaga presently still in the lead though with the best-selling album and single of the year so far. Nonetheless it's looking dodgy where she could be knocked from this position by Susan Boyle because sales are soaring as we speak for her "I Dreamed a Dream" debut album.

Reaching the number 1 slot in the UK charts for Christmas with his release of the Miley Cyrus song "The Climb" Joe McElderry will have an uphill struggle to achieve this. This may have everything to do with the campaign set up by facebook users. Facebook members came together to boycott the single from reaching number 1 that the winner of the X factor was to sing, and looking at the way things are going they may well have succeeded, however never say never.

Nonetheless it's still looking good for Joe to oust out Lady Gaga taking her down the charts a notch or two, but still not enough to stop Rock band Rage Against The Machine that facebook users are backing to get the number 1 Christmas place.

As it stands Rihanna with Russian Roulette the Black Eyed Peas' Meet Me Halfway and Tik Tok by Kesha completed the week's top five songs.

The UK music charts only saw one new entry from Chuckie and Lmfao with "Let the Bass Kick in Miami Girl," take number nine place in the charts.

It's sad for McElderry because the facebook members who set out on a mission seem to have accomplished it. They promoted Rock band Rage against the Machine, who is firing on all cylinders and scaling the charts at the speed of lightening.

Continual sales of the record Killing In The Name recorded by Rock band Rage Against The Machine first back in 1992 has overtaken X Factor winner Joe McElderry. The amount of Facebook members that joined the campaign totaled a staggering amount of 750,000. Don't let this worry any Joe McElderry fans because this is a puny figure to the amount of viewers that tuned in to watch the X factor final (19 million.)

This tells us there are a lot of people ready to purchase McElderry's debut single "The Climb" which is out on CD on Wednesday, which may just take out "Rage Against The Machine."

An announcement by a reliable source said there is only a 10% margin in sales between the two singles after Sunday and Monday. Not much in it if you ask me but who knows time will tell. Cheryl Cole's very own Joe's song was released digitally after his triumphant win in the X Factor final, while Rage against the Machine has been out almost twice as long. While the facebook campaign was deemed stupid by Simon Cowell some good has come of it because the Facebook page included a link to a homeless charity site Shelter, which has raised nearly £30,000 in donations.

Ladbrokes the bookmakers has re-opened its betting for the number one Christmas UK single just a day after closing it. Spokesman, Nick Weinberg, said: "Earlier this week it looked a done deal. Now it seems there is a tremendous fight going on between the two artists for top spot. But like I said there were 19 million people watching the X factor and they have yet to dip their hands in their pocket. I still say Joe who is at 1/3 to win the battle, and that Rage against the Machine at 2/1should throw the towel in..

Like I did with the X factor I will be rooting for Joe McElderry to go to number one this Christmas. Superstars like Lady Gaga, Micheal Buble Rage Against The Machine and others all have their fame and wealth, so I wouldn't say they would mind very much with a second third and fourth placing in the music charts if it means giving an up and coming new pop star a chance to prove himself.

I may have changed my tune if the song the facebook users promoted was something that was easy on the ear, but they didn't, so Joe it is you I will listen to while I eat Christmas turkey.
