How to tell if you are pregnant? Have you been a silly girl and think you're pregnant. Did you have too much to drink over the party season and made a mistake of having sex without using protection. Or are you a lad who thinks you have made a girl pregnant and don't know what to do. If this has happened to you then not to fret but instead face your fears. Once you do this and everything is out in the open then you can prepare yourself for pregnancy and becoming a parent, or make other arrangements if the pregnancy is not to go ahead due to illness or other serious circumstance.

How to tell if you are pregnant?

Most girls alike tend to experience the same regular pregnancy symptoms. Nonetheless not every woman carry their babies the same, so it's best we stick with the symptoms of pregnancy we expect to see in the early stage, and late stages of pregnancy. Staying with what we are familiar with will give you good insight if you are pregnant or not.

Before going further on finding out how can you tell if you are pregnant I would like to ask, are you scared, and if so is the reason for your fear because you've had sex underage, or frightened of what your parents will think, or what they might do.

Let's pretend I am your mom. Okay, I have to admit I'm not going to be happy about what has happened, but not half as unhappy, or mad, if you didn't come and tell me about you're condition. I would want to be there for my daughter and give her and her baby all the support they need to keep them safe and healthy and you know why, because that's what we moms do. Yeah we do shout and bawl a lot but we also calm down a lot too. What's a bit of yelling going to do, it's not that you can die from a tongue lashing from mom, so go on, go and tell her.

Your mum will always be your best friend so remember that when you have a problem and the plus in all this is they also make great babysitters too.

How to tell if you are pregnant?

You know you're body better than anyone else so if you notice you're body rhythms have altered then you can't rule out pregnancy. It has been known among women to feel changes in their body not long after conception has occurred. This doesn't mean women who experience changes are pregnant so don't get into a panic. This is just merely a pointer to say how early you can tell if you're pregnant.

The earliest symptoms of pregnancy we see as typical don't normally happen until the fertilised egg attaches itself to the uterine wall, several days after conception. Some pregnancy symptoms don't affect women at all for many weeks. This is not good if you're scared witless as the long wait can take its toll in many ways. The quicker you know the better instead of wondering "Am I pregnant?" or not. You can make you're self seriously sick with worry which is not good for you and the baby, if one has been conceived.

Signs and symptoms of pregnancy

Remember what was said earlier that not every woman is the same so it is worth bearing this in mind

1. Missed period: If every month you have a regular bleed and it suddenly stops for no reason then this is a common symptom of pregnancy, but having said that, stress can interfere with your monthly cycle in the same way. This is when you should do a pregnancy test. You can purchase a pregnancy kit or get one free from a family planning clinic. Then retreat to the loo and pee on the stick provided. The stick will have a display window to give you the result that indicates you are pregnant or not. Some home pregnancy kits display a negative or positive symbol through colour. (Like blue being positive and white negative) or it may show a straight forward yes or no.

2. Food cravings: Don't rely on your longing for ice cream and cheese mixed together being a pregnancy symptom, but it can be too. I can vouch for this. My cravings consisted of Silverskin pickled onions and peanut butter. I still have them today but thankfully without the burden of worrying over "Am I pregnant?" so she says with fingers crossed.

3. Dark areolas: The areola is the skin surrounding the nipple – If you notice the areolas getting darker, you could be pregnant. I say could be because it can also happen through other conditions.

4. Implantation bleeding or cramping: Once ovulation has happened and usually around 7 or 8 days following this you may suffer from implantation spotting. This means you may notice light staining of a pink or brown colour, along with mini spasms of cramping. The reason why this happens is duly caused by the egg tunnelling into the endometrial lining.

5. Peeing a lot: When the embryo implants and starts creating the hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) - you may find yourself frequently urinating.

6. Tiredness: Fatigue is common in pregnant women. High levels of the hormone progesterone can take it out of you leaving you with no energy (exhausted if you like.) Tiredness is an early sign we see a lot of in pregnant women but more proven to be a positive symptom if accompanied with other pregnancy indicators.

7. Sore swollen breasts: If you're pregnant, your breasts can have you suffer some major discomfort. The least little knock to the boob could have you scream out in pain. They will be tender to touch by your own hand.

8. Taste: A lot of pregnant women have said they have an unusual taste in their mouth (metallically.) Some girls who may have loved a cup of coffee or tea in the morning have been known to too throw their guts up just looking at the beverage.

9. Morning sickness: This is one symptom that is not only as common as missing a period, it is one of the most inconvenient ones to. Running back and too throwing your ring up and retching till you're throat hurts can be seriously tiring. Morning sickness includes feeling nauseated and sickly and is not designated to happen in the early hours of the day either; it can happen at any time.

Are you reading this in hope you have none of the symptoms and that you're not pregnant, or do you have the symptoms and praying the problem will go away, well it won't. Speak to mom if you feel alone or make an appointment to see you're GP.

Hey we all make mistakes so stop beating yourself up, the damage is done and now you need help and guidance as to what to do next. The first thing you are not to do is be silly and do something that could seriously harm you and your baby. I am sorry to sound harsh but if you were adult enough to open your legs then you have to be grown up about the consequences of your actions, you owe it to yourself and your baby.

If you're 100% sure you're pregnant after having unprotected sex then what you need to do is tell someone. If you are under the age of consent to have sex don't let this hold you back from finding out if you are pregnant. Family planning clinics give free pregnancy tests. If you get a positive result from the pregnancy test, then it's in yours and the baby's best interest to act fast to find out your options and decide what's best for you both.

If the test came back negative then take this as a wake up a call. Still pop into the clinic to talk about methods of contraception if you tend on having more sex which is not wise if you're underage and not ready for pregnancy.
