Make sure you're comfortable before you begin. Lie flat on your back with your arms stretched out from your sides so you form the shape of a cross. Raise your legs up into a 90-degree angle, like you're sitting in a seat. Keep your arms out to the side throughout the stretching routine. Allow your legs to fall to your right side, keeping them bent. Not moving your arms keep the upper back flat on the floor, and stay in this position for 30 to 60 seconds. Repeat on the left side.
If you've weakened or strained your back, even pulled a muscle then seek medical attention. Leaving a back injury untreated can lead to other serious problems where the pain will remain only more severe.
