Vaginal odour is not something girls like to carry around with them like they do a purse or handbag. You're usual genital smells whether caused by sweat, pee or other can cause major embarrassment. What's that saying, "Twos company threes a crowd," well when the third party is vaginal odour then it's not good?

Most people who find them self in a humiliating situation can usually talk themselves out of it, or find a way to distract and take the attention away from their blushing cheeks, but in the case of a smelly vagina then there's no getting out of it, and as long as you stay put in the one place so will the smell.

Some girls who see a discharge or detect odour tend to panic but why, because it's perfectly natural. Okay, there are certain smells that come with vaginal infections that are not nice, but this doesn't make you abnormal, odour is simply a symptom

Every woman although the same in many ways her vagina is unique. She will have her own smell. Even down to the amount of discharge she loses may vary with her menstrual cycle. It is a good idea to keep track of what goes on down there, then if something changes that appears odd then you will know to get it checked out.

It's normal to see a little white or yellowish discharge on underwear with a distinct, but not foul odour. Once you're familiar with the way your body works then you'll know something is up if vaginal discharge turns a different colour, and loss is in great quantity and brings a nasty smell. If this happens then you know this is not normal. Don't panic if you see change because it doesn't have to mean it's something serious. Pay attention to the workings of your vagina and learn what is usual for you, and then it will help you to tell more quickly when something has altered.

There is only a couple of vaginal smells women experience aside from their unique odour, and we link them to infection. One is the yeasty odour of a vaginal yeast infection like thrush, and the fishy odour brought about by Bacterial Vaginosis. Others as mentioned earlier are your typical sweat and urine odor. Sometimes if you have an infected boil around the genital area and it bursts then the pus inside can be smelly, but of course a boil can happen on any part of your body, so not a vaginal odour.

One smell not covered yet and that is post menstrual vaginal odor. Unfortunately woman will find this unavoidable but if dealt with immediately then you stop it from getting stronger. When you have your periods you have to work more with the vagina. At the time of your menstrual cycle keep hygiene at its highest level

Change tampons or sanitary towels once every 2 to 3 hours. Run a bath or shower daily when menstruating. If you don't shave the pubic region and have pubic hair then this has to be washed thoroughly and rinsed.

The best effective way to treat natural odours is to keep up with good hygiene.

If you have a vaginal odor and no matter what you have done to rid it, it remains, then take a trip to see your gynaecologist so they can rule out the problem is not caused by a sexual health issue. Yeast infections, bacterial infections and STDs are conditions identified for their odours.

Is trying to rid vaginal odour by using deodorized tampons or pads the right thing to do. For some women deodorizing products do help, however, known for causing infections in others.

Toxic Shock Syndrome

It's important that the danger of using tampons is pointed out. Although safe, if you abuse the way you use them then devastating consequences can be the result. You must never forget about a tampon. Not only can this cause a smelly odour it can have a serious affect on your health. A forgotten tampon is something to take seriously because of a specific condition called Toxic Shock Syndrome, a potentially life threatening condition.

Toxic shock syndrome (TSS) is a rare bacterial infection. The condition at first was connected to the use of tampons, but that has changed and is now supposedly linked with the contraceptive sponge and diaphragm birth control methods. TSS has also been the outcome of wounds secondary to minor trauma or surgery incisions where bacteria were allowed to enter the body and cause the infection. Toxic shock syndrome symptoms include rapid high fever, a dizzy feeling, and loose diarrhoea, headache, and muscle aches and pains. To avoid vaginal irritation do as suggested below. No doubt you may have heard all this before but you need to do them all the same to stay free of infection and the vagina remain 100% healthy as long as possible.

Never ponder over a problem that has anything to do with the vagina. Untreated vaginal infections can turn real nasty and painful.
