Boxing champion Rocky Lockridge is finally getting over his crack addiction. He is still in the process of recovery but getting there. That's right you heard right, the former boxing champion Rocky Lockridge was a crack addict. The turning point for Lockridge was when he finally admitted to himself he was a crack addict which then spurred him on to seek help for his drug addiction.

It s the hardest part for all druggies wanting to beat their drug or alcohol addiction is to actually admit they are hooked on drugs.

It's sad when you see someone go from strength to strength and achieve in their chosen career only to see them weaken and fall, and not because of an upper cut or a jab to the jaw.

Rocky Lockridge only six months ago was living on a New Jersey sidewalk and craving both the drug and alcohol, too. Of course Rocky wasn't the only guy or gal sleeping it rough on the New Jersey sidewalk as it's home to many crack, heroin or whatever illegal substance users

It's good news for the fans of the fallen hero, close friends and most of all his relatives to know the former world junior lightweight boxing champion is in recovery and will soon be seen making an appearance on the A & E show 'Intervention', a weekly documentary about addicts and their life stories. Its shows like this that helps those who have suffered badly because of their drug addiction. It is also a great way to make them that think about taking drugs to think twice.

Rocky Lockridge agreed to have a camera crew follow his every move through his intervention, and during his attempt to help himself. In return, the program paid for the rehab fees, at the Rayville, Louisiana facility called Palmetto Addiction Recovery Center which was home to Rocky Lockridge for 12 weeks

The almost clean drug user boxing champion told the Star Ledger, "I'm cleaner now than I ever was, even during my time in the boxing ring. He also said the program along with his rehabilitation experience went fantastically well. If I had not had a stroke I might get me another title shot, as good as I feel."

This is all fortunate news for Rocky Lockridge and his addiction but what of the not so fortunate whose home a card box and roof a newspaper. Let us pray they see sense like Lockridge and able to admit they have fallen and get help. If anyone wants to beat their drug or alcohol addiction they can, but first they need to admit they are addicted to drugs, and most importantly want to give up drugs.

If you or someone you know is taking drugs then watch Rocky Lockridge on A & E on the show 'Intervention'. What you will see will open your eyes. Watch how the fittest of fit is taken down by drugs and not a punch.

Want to help beat depression caused by addiction.
