Holyfield crowned WBF champion in bright light city of Las Vegas. Who said life doesn't begin at 40. Evander Holyfield is living proof that it does after winning his fight in Las Vegas. Holyfield's win came for him in the eighth round when the former four-time heavyweight champion beat South African Frans Botha when the ref thought enough was enough and stopped the fight.

Evander Holyfield takes World Boxing Federation title in Las Vegas.

They say you are never too old and both contestants in the boxing ring their ages totalled to 88 years. So much old flesh and yet still doing damage as if still in their younger days of fighting. Holyfield, 47, floored the 41-year-old Botha with a right early in the eighth round.

Although the South African wasn't down for long and back up on his feet, referee Russell Mora was wary and later stopped the fight.

This was Holyfield's first bout in seven years (2003) in Las Vegas. He improved to 43-10-2 with 28 knockouts. The jubilant and triumphant boxing champion said after taking the crown "I'm going to be the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world."

I always think it's great sportsmanship regardless of which sport is involved that the winner has good things to say about their opponent. And today after his win and being crowned WBF champion he did just that. Holyfield spoke out to the crowds who had flocked in great numbers to watch the boxing match said.

"I'm happy Botha gave me an opportunity. When people talk about you, it's who I fought. I fought the best."

There were only 3,127 people at the Thomas & Mack Center for Holyfield's first fight since December 2008 when he lost a majority decision to Nikolay Valuev.

Two judges, Jerry Roth and Glenn Feldman, had Botha ahead when the fight was stopped. It was the eighth round when things changed considerably for both fighters, seeing one crowned WBF champion and the other not being crowned WBF champion

Congratulations to Evander Holyfield for his unforgettable fight and win in Las Vegas, and commiserations to Frans Botha in his attempt in trying to put a stop to that.
