It was doubtful for a time but the show must go on come hell or high water, this was the attitude of the Colorado Rockies today. The Colorado Rockies will play tonight at Nationals Park following a tragedy at the highest level of their association. Team President Keli S. McGregor, 48, was found dead early this morning in his hotel room in Salt Lake City.

It was only yesterday if I remember right that the world of sport has been hit badly, and in mourning at the loss of two other great superstars. First we had the death of Dylan Meier who died in a freak hiking accident at the age of 26, and then boxing champ Edwin Valero, after he committed suicide in a prison cell after being locked up for the murder of his wife after stabbing her to death.

Baseball president McGregor had been travelling on a business trip with Rockies Chairman Charlie Monfort and Executive Vice President Greg Feasel. Both were left in shock after finding out their best buddy and colleague had been found dead

As of yet there have been no updates as to how President Keli S. McGregor died. More details are expected after an investigation is carried out.

"Words cannot describe the level of shock and disbelief that we all are feeling this morning at the loss of Keli," said Chairman Charlie Monfort. "Our thoughts, our prayers are with [McGregor's wife] Lori and the entire family as we all try to cope and understand how such a tragic loss could occur with such a wonderful man."

He died at such a young age 48, and the reason for his passing has not yet been established. Somehow you expect something like this happening out of the blue to someone knocking on eighty or over, but forty eight years old is no age at all, and is something you like to query.

McGregor, a former NFL tight end with the Broncos, Seahawkas and Colts, joined the Rockies in 1993 and has been with the team since its inception as an MLB expansion team. He was made president of the team in 2001.

Commissioner Bud Selig said "On behalf of Major League Baseball, I am very saddened by the unexpected death of Keli McGregor." "Keli was one of our game's rising young stars. He was a great athlete and equally great as a baseball administrator. All his fans and those involved with baseball and especially his team mates will miss him dearly.

Keli McGregor was born on January 23 1962. He had four children with his wife Lori, Jordan, Logan, Taylor, and Landri.
