Geoffrey Hughes Prostate Cancer Returns Ex Corrie Scouse Eddie & Royle Family Geezer Seriously Ill

Geoffrey Hughes ex corrie star is seriously ill in hospital. Cancer strikes again. I remember his character well in Coronation St. He was the lovable, big and cuddly bin man who talked with a sort of lisp and scouse accent, and answered to the name of Eddie Yeats. The actor is undergoing intense radiotherapy after collapsing at his home last Friday. Geoffrey Hughes has prostate cancer. Only a year ago he was given the all clear and thought he had beaten the cancer. Sadly, its been confirmed the reason for Hughes collapsing at his home is that the cancer has returned.

'Royle Family' star Geoffrey Hughes is very sick and doctors are working round the clock to make sure he gets the right treatment for the disease.

A close source of the actor said: "Geoffrey is not in a very good way; in fact we are all worried at this time. He is undergoing heavy radiotherapy and is in terrible discomfort. "He thought he was over the worst after his treatment 12 months ago, as we all did, so it was a great shock to find out it had come back. He's a fighter and he is doing his damnedest to try to beat it again."

Before his role of Twiggy came along in 'The Royle Family', Hughes was best known for his role as 'Coronation Street's Eddie Yeats. Acting roles after his exit from Corrie just kept coming in.

In the 90s he starred as Onslow in the much-loved BBC sitcom 'Keeping up Appearances' and his many other TV roles include 'Z-Cars' and 'Heartbeat'

He played Vernon Scripps in the British drama series Heartbeat (2001-2004, 2007); Twiggy in the popular television comedy The Royale Family written by Caroline Aherne which also starred Aherne, Sue Brooks and Ricky Tomlinson. (1998-2000, 2006, 2008); Geoffrey Hughes played Onslow in the sitcom Keeping up Appearances from (1990-1995) and the character of Eddie Yeats from (1974-1983).

Hughes attended Ranworth Square Primary School, Liverpool 11 he then moved onto Abbotsford Secondary Modern School in Norris Green, Liverpool. Hughes began his acting career in repertory at the Victoria Theatre. The scouse lad did stage in his time and some West End productions to name was the version of "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" Say Goodnight to Grandma; The Secret Life of Cartoons; and several seasons of Run for your Wife.

Geoffrey Hughes is battling cancer once again. Let us pray that he wins the battle
