Grey hair makes you look older… so not true. Just because grey hair is something we associate with natural aging, it does not put years on you. Gray hair is sexy end of. Take a look at TV presenter Philip Scholfield whose career boomed since his hair went from being black to grey overnight, “and” with no sign of an extra wrinkle.

You don’t go grey without reason.

A common cause for premature graying is lack of oil production by the oil glands in the hair follicles on the scalp. Not enough oil will result in a loss of nutrition to the hair, thus causing greying. To help prevent this happening you should be looking to change a few things that you either do, or don’t do. For those wanting to cover their grey hair then below is a helpful Q/A snippet found online to guide you.

Q. My mum currently dyes her hair every 3 weeks to cover grey roots, but has recently become aware of the ammonia and damaging chemicals contained in them. She's not ready to go 'au natural' yet so I've been enlisted to help! I've tried googling, but it seems most natural hair dyes aren’t strong enough to cover grey hairs- does anyone here have any suggestions on a product?

A. Henna. It naturally gives hair a Red through Auburn to Deep Brown colour but you can mix it with other herbs to give other colors (indigo is quite popular/common - gives hair a black/blue tint). You can also buy it already made up some with additives (natural or not depending on brand) that can give hair a deep brown or black/blue tint and a few other colors. It's one of the few things that cover grey hair successfully. Unlike chemical hair dyes the colour builds up and deepens over time too - if you dye it a few times a year it will get deeper and richer each time.

Thanks, Kacy, very helpful remedies there, though you admit never having used them. From your article I know to stay away from those chemical dyes. BTW, I call my grey hair my wisdom hair...my wife doesn't think it's funny. ~mogama~
