What was my first Christmas like? - Hey guys is this some sort of joke asking me to remember that far back. If you were to ask me what I was wearing yesterday I’d likely struggle to give you an accurate answer. Is it amnesia? No, more is the pity because then I would have a reason for the forgetfulness. It has to be down to that dreaded time in life when you reach a certain age and think you’re losing your marbles. Memory loss can be worrying, especially when you find a bicycle puncture kit in the freezer, and call your son by every other name bar the one you gave him at birth. Now what was I saying?…Just joking. So what was my first Christmas like? I don’t have a clue. If I can’t remember my comings and goings from 24 hours ago, then there isn’t a hope in hell’s chance of recalling the events of my first Christmas Day.
My first Christmas and what it was like? Although having no recollection of this particular time in great detail, or the close on Christmas‘s that followed, what did stick in my mind where memory never failed me, was that our house was a happy house filled with jolly people.Good times are not meant to be forgotten, so if I’m to assure the folk around me that this Christmas will be one they’ll remember for a long time to come, then things will have to be done differently. The question is, will the changes I’ve made leave my guests going home with good memories, or bad?
Xmas Party with a Difference
Out with tradition. “No” roast turkey sat in the middle of the table with stuffing oozing out of its…no more said. “No” central heating to keep us warm. “No” Christmas carols playing inside. “No” taking your coat off this Christmas day at my house. Why is that? Because this years Xmas celebrations are going to take place outside.
Every year, (well the ones I can remember anyway) Lynsey Gosh and Graciemae come over for Christmas dinner, we exchange Christmas gifts after filling our bellies with turkey, the same old turkey that we had agreed upon so many times never to buy again because the meat is to dry, and then we would sit back (maybe not Graciemae) and do the same thing we done the previous year, and the year before that…which was always nothing. This year that is going to change.
Although my house is of decent size, having the whole family over to bring more fun into the day was never going to happen. Who said you need a house? Did I say having the whole family over was never going to happen…I take it back. Of course it can happen when your GARDEN measures 70ft in length and 60ft wide.
The invitations have been sent so there is no turning back. Oh well the show must go on, they are either going to love it, or hate it.
Christmas Day 2011- 2 Gazebos with windowed sides combined into one
- Bonfire
- Calor Gas portable heater
- Blankets
- Buffet
- Booze (Snow will play an important role on the day to keep beers cold) “Let it snow Let it snow Let it snow”.
- 480 Christmas LED lights
- Music player and speakers hooked up inside the shed
- Hot food - 2 big Gammons boiled with 3 heads of cabbage, spuds to baked on the open fire.
- Other Entertainment - sing-along to the guitar and snowball fights (“Let it snow Let it snow Let it snow”)
What a Christmas this is going to be. No plates, no knives and no forks to wash up because we are using paper and plastic. No dressing up in heels that kill your feet. No having anyone puke up in your living room.
What was the real motive behind having a party outside? Was it about a Christmas to remember, or did the pointers highlighted above have anything to do with it. C'mon guys it's me Kacy, give me some credit.
P.S. Don't bother asking me on Boxing Day how my Christmas went. Why not is your memory failing you again? No it’ll be more like I’ll still be drunk.
Happy Christmas
Are you depressed? Depression can strike any time of the year. Stop it before it becomes Chronic.

Merry Christmas to you and family.Hi Hilda yes I still have my marbles. The day my memory fails me and I can't remember who my Searchwarp friends are, is a time for me to worry. Thank you for being one of those friends I refer too.
Keep safe
Very funny, Kacy - and who says you can't be smart about Christmas and still have fun! Happy Christmas, I hope you have a really great day.Hi Jennifer thanks for dropping by to comment. You begin with very funny Kacy, lets pray this is not the words of those that come to my house on Christmas Day, meaning, very funny Kacy you ain't getting me to out there.
I recall sitting at a Christmas table with a woman opposite me whose sweater blinked tiny lights off and on, constantly; I don't know how it worked, but after three glasses of wine, I wanted to unplug her!
Welcome back!
PaulWhy would you want to unplug her and take that spark between the both of you away. The time to worry is when a woman sits in front of you with "no" sweater and just sight of two tassels swirling round, well maybe not, cos heaven help you as to what might do the blinking
Missed you're banter Paul
Keep well
Kacy
Hi Kacy.
That sounds like so much fun! Can I come?! :)
I hope everyone you invited shows up. If not, they'll miss a great time.
Glad you are back. Hope all is well.
Hugs,
DianneThanks Dianne. I can assure you that everyone with an invite will turn up... how do I know? When there's free food and beer they would be silly not too.
Happy Christmas
Hugs from Kacy
