Have you been planning to have a baby and think you’re pregnant, but doubtful the symptoms are connected to pregnancy. Or, are you young with no plans to get pregnant, but scared you‘ve conceived after a one nightstand without using protection. If you are underage and having a baby, tell mom. Okay she may not be happy, maybe disappointed, she may even bawl and shout, but hey, your her baby and she will do what is right by you and the unborn infant.

How To Know If You Are Pregnant - The Symptoms

Its possible some symptoms listed below you’ll not be familiar with, but don’t worry, because as we go along highlighting particular pregnancy signs, it’ll help you understand more clearly why the changes to your body are happening.

Two early signs of pregnancy even men boast knowing about, are the missed period and morning sickness. Is this enough? Unfortunately - no! The more both people are aware the better. Take mood swings for example, or the headache, which is the usual excuse for refusing a man sex, these are symptoms men need to prepare for.

1. Period: Having sexual intercourse without using protection and not seeing a period, could mean you’re pregnant. It’s not a 100% proof you’ve conceived after a night of unprotected sex, but then, it’s not 100% proof you haven’t either. To clarify the condition quickly use a pregnancy kit. At some stage you’ll need to see a doctor though. You can only put off seeing a medic for so long until choice is not an option. Remember, the first 3 months of pregnancy are the most critical.

2. Vomiting (morning sickness): Don’t you just hate puking. You’ll be one lucky lady if this by passes you because it affects at least 95% of pregnant women. Don’t be fooled by name. Throwing up is not restricted to the early hours - it can occur any time of the day. Even in the first 7 days of pregnancy balking can happen.

3. Mood swings: Although common during menopause, this is a typical symptom in expectant women. It’s a delicate time for the body and natural it suffers some turmoil as a result of hormones playing havoc. Women need time to adjust to changes which will help manage this.

4. Head/Neck Pain: There are many discomforts associated with pregnancy, with headaches being one. Research boils it down to hormonal patterns causing head pain. If pain is severe, before popping pills see the midwife/GP. This goes for any pregnancy symptom that causes you stress as its not good for the unborn baby.

5. Weight: Because there’s a growing baby inside, and you’re now eating for two - extra weight is somewhat unavoidable. Piling on the pounds, feeling heavier and bigger rounded stomach are likely symptoms of pregnancy.

6. Light-headed: No two women carry their babies the same. Some have dizzy spells, while others don’t. Low blood pressure can cause dizziness. If you feel faint, sit down to avoid the nasty outcome likely to occur from a fall.

7.Tiredness: Not only during the nine months is fatigue an issue. For most mums it continues after giving birth. Caring for a newborn baby can take its toll. Tiredness is not a serious sign of pregnancy because of cause…due to extra weight. However, there’s a major difference between feeling tired during the day, to being tired all day, which is not normal. Hormonal changes is the primary cause of fatigue.

8. Cravings: Mine was silverskin pickled onions and peanut butter, not together mind! Craving food you might never have eaten before could be a sign you’re pregnant.

9. Heartburn: This symptom caused me much grief lasting right up until my baby was delivered. Hormones produced during pregnancy can lower the esophageal sphincter, which opens the valve allowing stomach acids to enter and flow up into the esophagus - hence the burning.

10. Cramp: Cramps similar to period pain is usually caused by the growing uterus and stretching. “Severe” stomach pain that has you keel over, is “not” a symptom of pregnancy - see your GP immediately.

11. Lower Back Pain: As baby grows the extra weight pulls the spine forward causing back pain from time to time. If pain worry’s you call the midwife for peace of mind.

12. Constipation: The digestive system is susceptible to upset, which hormonal changes can cause. If this happens the food you eat is not digested as it should. Don’t leave it to long to get this checked out if constipation persists.

13. Bleeding: Its important you know spotting is not connected to your period.
When the fertilized egg starts to implant itself into the uterus, slight bleeding can come from 3 to 6 days after fertilization. At the first sight of blood you believe not normal…act fast but don’t panic.

14. Breast Soreness: While breasts prepare for producing milk they become tender. Swollen breasts can reach a painful level, that even the slightest touch will have you scream out in agony. Swelling is the outcome of increasing hormones. Some women have darkening of the areola.

15. Weeing: Pressure on the bladder from the growing the baby can force frequent urination.

All symptoms listed, although common in hundreds of pregnant women, may not prove pregnancy. It’s the doctor you need to tell if you think you’re pregnant, and for the teen girl who thinks the same, tell mom, who will then tell the doctor for you.

Thanks Kacy- I try never to say anything I don't mean.

I appreciate your safe wish.. Although I wear armor and ride a good horse,.Metaphorically speaking, as a fellow warrior in this battle of life, I depend on those good wishes to deflect the stray arrow that may penetrate through a chink in that armor. I need all of them that I can get- Thank you for your contribution- Always Ella
